This weekly e-mail highlights interesting internship opportunities and other important information that will
aid you in securing an internship! The internships listed below are just a sampling of what is available. For

CAREER FEST
Career Fest 2010, February 1-5, a week of events for USC students centered on topics related to
work, career and the economy engaging the entire university community. Whether you are a
freshman and have not decided your major, a sophomore/junior thinking about internships or a senior
about to graduate we have an event for you! The week will include panels, discussions, workshops and
networking events hosted by departments across the USC campus. For more information and full list of

SAVE THE DATE!


The Career Fair will be held February 11. On-Campus Recruiting begins February 8. The spring
Diversity Networking Mixer will be held on February 16. Internship Week will be held February 22-
26.

TWO DAYS LEFT TO RECEIVE COURSE CREDIT FOR UNPAID INTERNSHIP


The last day to register for an internship course is this Friday, January 29th. If you need course credit
for an unpaid internship, register TODAY!

Federal labor law requires that students participating in an internship must either A) be paid by the
employer; or, B) be enrolled in an internship for-credit course. Do you have an unpaid internship and
need course credit? If so, register for one of USC’s 10+ internship courses. For a full list of internship

COMPANY PROFILE EVENTS


During the academic semesters, we invite employers to conduct company presentations. We strongly
recommend that you attend these information sessions to learn about different industries and
organizations, as well as meet some of their key employees. Over the next week JP Morgan Chase will

PAID INTERNSHIPS
 UBS – Summer Analyst Investment Banking, Technology (San Francisco)
Headquartered in Zurich and Basel, Switzerland, UBS is a global firm providing services to private,
corporate and institutional clients. Its strategy is to focus on international wealth management and the
Swiss banking business alongside its global expertise in investment banking and asset management.
Summer Analysts who join UBS Investment Bank are provided with a broad-based investment
banking experience. After a week of orientation and intensive training, Summer Analysts will join the
Global Technology Group in the San Francisco office and begin to actively participate in a variety of
transactions ranging from M&A advisory work to debt and equity offerings. Assignments can be
domestic and cross-border. Analysts will be involved in every aspect of transaction analysis and
execution from start (pitch/marketing) to finish (close/pricing). Summer Analysts will be expected to
conduct research and build technical abilities by using the financial statement analysis, accounting
and valuation techniques taught during the intern training program. The Summer Internship Program
lasts approximately 10 weeks and is targeted to students entering their senior year. In addition to the
experience and education acquired on the job, interns have the opportunity to participate in
educational seminars, and various social and networking events. Candidates must be enrolled in a
four year bachelor’s degree or international equivalent program and have completed their junior year,
prior to the commencement of employment. To apply for this position, register for On-Campus

 Nordstrom – Summer Internship Program

 Sonoma City Economic Development Board – Program Development Intern


The Sonoma County Economic Development Board Program Development Internship provides
recent college graduates with a remarkable opportunity to gain practical experience and make
substantive contributions in program development, policy analysis, project management, and research
in the field of economic development. Each year, the Sonoma County Economic Development Board
offers five one-year paid internships that run from approximately July 15, 2010 to June 30, 2011.
Each intern will be assigned to an area or program of focus: Tourism, Green Business Program,
Workforce and Youth Development, Business Environmental Alliance, and Economic Research,
based on qualifications and interest. Students with backgrounds in economics, political science,
public policy, or liberal arts who have research and report experience are particularly encouraged to
apply; applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree by the start of the position. In addition to research
responsibilities, each intern will coordinate advisory groups comprised of leaders from local
businesses, government agencies, and community groups and will assist in the development and
management of innovative countywide programs and events. During the year-long program, interns
develop project management and other professional skills while working under minimal oversight to
make important and lasting contributions to the economic development of Sonoma County.

 BANDAI – Summer Internship Program (Tokyo, Japan)


As one of the world's leading toy companies, Bandai is constantly searching for new ways to
conceptualize, develop, and market products. Having been an innovator in the field for over fifty
years, we are constantly evolving and finding new ways to make the company better. The next big
evolutionary step for Bandai will be on a global scale, as we make serious efforts to expand our
business throughout the entire world. With this expansion comes the need for employees who come
from a variety of backgrounds and have a variety of skill sets, but possess a similar global mindset.

 NAMCO BANDAI Games – Internship (Tokyo, Japan)


NAMCO BANDAI Games is proud to announce the initiation of a summer internship program. This
internship program will give highly motivated individuals a chance to work at one of the biggest
game developers in Japan. NAMCO BANDAI Games focuses primarily on the creation of video
games and other forms of electronic entertainment. There are several different internship positions
available from Game Producer, Product Marketing, Sound Creator and more. Each position has its

UNPAID INTERNSHIPS
 MGM Studios – Digital Media Intern
We are seeking a hard-working, ambitious college student for an internship in MGM’s Digital Media
department. Duties will include, but will not be limited to; departmental projects, meetings with staff
and possibly outside internet companies, day-to-day minutiae, and special projects as needed. This
position allows the intern to gain invaluable hands-on experience while working alongside industry
professionals. Must be computer proficient (especially with Microsoft Suite), and have an

 William Morris Endeavor – Intern


A high profile talent agency located in Beverly Hills, is looking for 2 interns to start immediately.

 K-EARTH 101 – Gary Bryan Morning Show Intern


The Gary Bryan Morning Show at Kearth 101 is looking for interns to help us answer the phones, fill
out winner sheets, run around and generally assist the morning talent. Looking to fill 5:30am to
10:00am Tues, Thurs and Fridays right now. I promise an atmosphere where eager candidates can
learn hands on how a live morning show in Los Angeles operates. We have about 2.6 million listeners
here in LA and are currently the number 3 morning show in town. Interested students should email

 College Sports Feed – Campus Rep Intern


College Sports Feed (CSF) is the only college sports blog by the fans, and for the fans on the web!
CSF is a blogging network and a pulse, strictly dedicated to college sports taking place on college
campuses across the nation, and we are recruiting Campus Reps! CSF is building a team of student
representatives on hundreds of college campuses across the country. Our reps are as intense as we are
about college sports. They implement a variety of marketing programs on and off campus, online, and
in the local community. Each participating school has as many as five students who work together to
create innovative and effective plans to achieve project goals. Our tailored events, word-of-mouth

FELLOWSHIPS
City Hall Fellows
City Hall Fellows is a non-partisan nonprofit national service corps training the next generation of leaders
for America's cities. Our 12-month, paid, post-college Fellowship integrates hands-on experience
working within the highest levels of local government with intensive training in how cities work. For the
class of 2011, we will be placing cohorts of Fellows in 3 cities: Houston, Texas; San Francisco,
California; Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Fellowship is open to students of ALL majors. A detailed
overview of the Fellowship, as well as application materials and instructions, are available on our

Class of 2011 are due March 10, 2010. The Fellowship year begins August 2, 2010 and runs through July

Fund for American Studies


Sponsored by The Fund for American Studies in partnership with Georgetown University, the Institutes
combine substantive internships, courses for academic credit, career development activities, site briefings
and lectures led by prominent policy experts. This fast-paced, eight-week residential program provides
students from around the world with opportunities to gain the edge in today’s competitive job market and
graduate school admissions, and experience the excitement of Washington first-hand. Students will be
accepted in a rolling basis until the Final Deadline of March 5, 2009. Students applying by the Priority
Deadline of February 5, 2010 will be given priority consideration in admissions and scholarship decisions
as well as internship placement.
