Encounter with fruit testers

Scene 1: (3 kids are on stage. Their names are George, Jane, and Jo-Jo. Joey
enters.)
JOEY: Hi guys
GEORGE: Nope
JANE: Nope
JO-JO: Nope
JOEY: What??
JANE: We're not hi. We're down here on the ground and that's not hi. (all giggle)
JOEY: Ha ha. Very funny. I haven't seen you around lately.
GEORGE: That's because we're not round, we're kind of long and skinny.. (all giggle)
JOEY: So, how are you all doing?
JANE: Better than you are. Of course, that's not very hard. (all giggle)
JOEY: You know, you'd better watch out with your smart remarks. One day I'm going to lose my
patience and twist your necks.
JO-JO: Ooooh. You're so tough . . . . . to look at. Get it? Tough, to look at. ! (all giggle)
JOEY: (angry) Oh, goodbye. I don't need to stand here and be insulted.
JANE: Nooo, you can be insulted just by looking in a mirror. (all giggle)
Scene 2: (Joey with friends @ bus stop waiting to be picked up to go for VBS. Joey
is so angry)
Friend 1: Joey, what happened ? You look so annoyed ?
JOEY: Ah.. That George & gang were again making me mad..
Friend 2: One day we need to bang them hard. Let see, may be after the VBS during these
holidays itself..
Friend 1: See Tim uncles car is coming. Lets talk about this later.
Scene 3: (Joey @ VBS Class with the teacher and 2 girls & a boy)

Teacher: O.k. class, it's time to get started. Today we will be talking about the Fruits of the Spirit.
Does anyone know what the Fruits of the Spirit mean?
Boy: (raising his hand and shaking it back and forth very excitedly) I do, I do!!
Teacher: Alright, alright settle down. Tell me calmly what it means.
Boy: My mom always tells me that I am very spirited and when I ask her how I got that way, she
says you're just like your dad and the "apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
(Everyone laughs)
Girl 1 : That doesn't even make sense. Besides she's talking about something in the Bible, right
Mrs.Kay?
Teacher: We'll, yes, it is from the Bible, but that was a good try anyway. Does anyone else
know?
Girl 2: (very timidly raises hand) I think I know.
Teacher: Yes, ___________, tell the class what it means.
Girl 2: I remember one time when I was visiting my grandmother she said that I should learn the
Fruits of the Spirit because it would teach me how to live.
Girl 1: What are the Fruits of the Spirit?
Girl 2: The fruits of the Spirit are Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faith,
Gentleness and Self-control.
Teacher: Very good ________. We all need to memorize the Fruits of the Spirit. Tell us where
we can find it in the Bible.
Girl 2: Galatins chapter five verse twenty two.
Boy: Gal - la - tins! That's not a book in the Bible.
Girl 1: Yes it is, but it's not Gal - la - tins, it's Galatians. It's in the New Testament after 2
Corinthians.
Girl 1: Oh, I guess I don't really know what books are in the Bible, at least not all of them.
Teacher: That's why it is important that you go to Sunday Schools and VBS so that you can
collectively learn and study your Bible.
JOEY: But Mrs.Kay, I have a doubt. How can we stay calm and patient when some people are so
annoying.
Teacher: Yeah, they sure are. We can call them fruit testers.
JOEY: Fruit testers? What does that mean?

Teacher: (Smiling) You have tests in school to test how much you know what was taught. People
who are annoying are like tests to see if you've learned to be loving and patient !
JOEY: (thinking) I see.. Well those kids have got to be the best fruit testers in the world.
Teacher: Joey, have I cleared your doubt ?
JOEY: Yes, Mrs. Kay.
(class continues & at the end of the day, Joey goes back home with his friends. They all are very
excited about the lessons they learned..)
Scene 4: (While walking back, Joey again meets those kids)
JO-JO: Well, look who's coming. Hey Joey, is that your head or is your neck blowing bubbles?
(laughing)
JOEY: (smiles at the kids and keeps walking)
GEORGE: (to the others) Hey, it seems Joey has become deaf as well after the VBS..
JOEY: (after walking further ahead) Thank you all for helping me learn an important lesson for my
life. If you are free next Sunday afternoon, do come home and we can have a game of
basketball.
(Joey walks off. George & gang stood startled at the way Joey reacted )
