PAPUA
Papua is the largest province of Indonesia. It lies south of the equator and it is known as a naturalists
paradise.
Papua is predominantly mountainous. The Maoke Mountains run from west to east and contain the
provinces highest peak, Puncak Jaya (5.030 m/ 16.503 ft), which is also the highest peak in Indonesia. The beauty
of Puncak Jaya has amazed lots of climbers. Once in a while it shows them all of its beauty, only to be covered in
the veil of mist a minute later.
Papua is also known for its amazing forest fauna. Animal life in the province includes many species of
marsupials such as tree kangaroos, wallabies, possums and cuscuses. There are more than 200 species of frogs
and as many as 100.000 species of insects, including many beetles and spiders. Papua is especially noted for its
flying fauna. Birdwing butterflies are found in many areas and more than 600 species of birds have been identified,
including the brush turkey, the bowerbird, the cassowary, and spectacular birds of paradise.
Indeed, Papua is a province of outstanding, natural interest and beauty.

The Amazon River
The Amazon River is the largest drainage basin of any river in the world. It also has the greatest volume of
water. It drains about one third of the South America.
The Amazon is located in South America. It originates in the icy height of the Andes Mountain in Peru.
From there, it flows eastward through Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, and Brazil before emptying I
Atlantic Ocean.
The Amazon River is about 6.400 km in length, the second longest river in the world after the Neil River. It
is equivalent to the distance between the New York City and Rome. The river varies in width from 6 to 10 km. The
river mouth is more than 240 km wide. The total area of the biggest basin is about 6 million square kilometers. The
Amazon climate is warm. The average temperature is 30 degrees Celcius. But at the higher elevation in the Andes,

Siti Nurhaliza is a Malaysian pop singer and song writer. She was born in January 11, 1979 in Berek Polis
Kg. Awah, Temerlih as the fifth child in the family of eight sibling. Right now she is the most successful Malaysian
singer. Sitis family members are music lovers. Her grand father was a famous violinist while her mother was a
famous local traditional singer.
Siti Nurhaliza attended pre-school at the Sekolah Tabika Perkep, Balai Polis Kampung Awah, Temerloh.
Here, she showed her early singing talent at the age of six when she sang Sirih Pinang, a Malay traditional song at
her kindergartens end of year event. Siti had also won a singing contest when she was twelve years old. She sang
patriatic song in the event. At the age of thirteen, she started her career by performing in wedding ceremonies and
dinner parties. The local community loved her performance. At 16, she competed in the 1995 RTM Juara Bintang
Competition where she met Adnan Abu Hasan, a famous Malaysian music composer. He helped her with her vocal

Siti Nurhaliza was granted a contract with Suria Records and in 1996 she released her first-titled album, Siti

Perhaps the most extra ordinary building of the nineteenth century was the Crystal Palace, which was built in
Hyde Park for the Great Exhibition of 1851.The Crystal Palace was different from all other buildings in the world,
for it was made of iron and glass. It was one of the biggest buildings of all time and a lot of people from many
countries came to see it. A greats many goods were sent to the exhibition from various parts of the world. There
was also a great deal machinery on display. The most wonderful piece of machinery on show was Nasmyth's.
Thought those days traveling was not as easy as it today, steamboats carried thousands of visitors across the
channel from Europe. On arriving in England, they were taken to Crystal Palace by train. There were six million
visitors in all and the profits from the exhibition were used to build museums and colleges. Later, the Crystal
Palace was moved to South London. It remained one of the most buildings in the world until it was burnt down in
1936.

Ostrich is a large, flightless bird now found only in Africa. Ostriches are largest and the strongest of living
birds, attaining a height from crown to foot of about 3,4 m (about 8ft) and the weight of up to 136 kg. they are also the
fastest bird and can run at speeds up to 40 miles per hour. They have long necks and small heads, with large eyes and
short, broad beaks. They spread their small wings and tail. The feathers of the male, which are large and soft, are the
ostrich plums of commercial value. The female is dull grayish brown.
The ostrichs speed and sharp eyesight help the bird escape from its predators, mainly lions, cheetahs, and
people. An exhausted ostrich in order to defend its nest; kick with its powerful legs. Its long toes, the largest of which
is 7 inches lion, have thick nails that serve as weapons when the bird is cornered.
The belief that ostriches hide their heads in sands when frightened is not true. It is related to the birds habit of
rearranging its eggs in its nest with is beaks. From a distance, this appears to cause the ostrichs head to disappear into
the sand.

An elephant is the largest and strongest of all animals. It is a strange looking animal with its thick legs, huge
sides and backs, large hanging ears, a small tail, little eyes, long white tusks and above all it has a long nose, the trunk.
The trunk is the elephant's peculiar feature, and it has various uses. The elephant draws up water by its trunk and
can squirt it all over its body like a shower bath. It can also lift leaves and puts them, into its mouth. In fact the trunk
serves the elephant as a long arm and hand. An elephant looks very clumsy and heavy and yet it can move very
quickly.
The elephant is very intelligent animal. Its intelligence combined with its great strength makes it a very useful
servant to man and it can be trained to serve in various ways such as carry heavy loads, hunt for tigers and even fight.

Bees are flying insects closely related to waps and ants, and are know for their role in pollination and for
producing honey and beeswax. There are nearly 20,000 known species of bees in nine recognised families though

The durian is the fruit of several tree species belonging to the genus durio and the malvaceace family (althought
