DisgruntledbytheimplementationofiRace(InfosysRoleandCareerEnhancement),anHRexerciseaimedatcareer
restructuring,someemployeesevenquestionedthecompany'sHRongettingrecognisedastheBestEmployerAward
lastyear.
WithalargenumberofitsonelakhplusemployeesupinarmsagainstitsHRleadership,Infosysgotnegativepress
bothwithinandoutsidetheorganisation.MsNanditaGurjar,SeniorVPandGlobalHRHead,clarifiesthatthatthis
wasnotthefirsttimethatthecompany'sHRhadseenemployeeantagonism,butthatitgotintensifiedandwasmore
widespreadbecauseoftheuseofsocialmedia.

iRace,implementedbyglobalHRservicesfirmMercerConsulting,isacareertransformationexercise,where
employeesaregivendesignationsbasedontheirdomainknowledgeandthebusinessunitstheybelongto.
ExplainsanHRconsultantandaformerInfosysemployee,Thismeansthatmanyofthetraditionaldesignationslike
EVPsorGMsbecomeredundantandtheygetmorespecificdesignationslikeHeadofSalesforcertainregionsor
certainverticals.Thiscreatedafurorebecauseitisakindoflevellerandabout1015peoplegotbunchedatthesame
level.
Over4,500peoplegotloweredintermsofdesignationsbecauseoftheiRaceimplementation,butwithpromotionsand

hasdesignateda15membertaskgrouptolistentoemployeesontheiRaceissueanddispelanymythssurroundingthe
exercise.

someadjustments.AndasMsGurjarsays,It'salargeexercise.We'dratherdoitnowthanwhenweareattwolakh
