Final Project The purpose of the final project is to use instructional design principles and theory to construct an electronic portfolio that aggregates redesigned prior coursework. At a minimum, the ePortfolio will demonstrate attainment of the 8 MATLT Program Learning Outcomes. The overarching goal of the ePortfolio is that you showcase your learning from the MATLT program in a consolidated, web-based format that can easily be shared with anyone. The final project includes a discussion and ranking of each Program Learning Outcome that is individualized to your personal work setting. Also included is a discussion of any design and development challenges experienced while creating the ePortfolio as well as a link to the ePortfolio. PLO Ranking I am currently not employed in an educational field, I am a Unit Secretary at a hospital. I will be ranking the Program Learning Outcomes (PLO) in a fictional, educational work center. The most important PLO is number 5, exemplify ethical practices of technology usage. Ethical practices should be upheld in all situations. There is no research or practice worth violating peoples rights or practicing unethically. Maintaining ethical practices must be a priority. I ranked PLO number 8 as second most important. PLO 8 is, demonstrate the ability to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of learning and leadership. There is a large amount of technology available for individual use. Not all of this technology is appropriate for the classroom. An instructor must have the ability to select the most appropriate technology for the learners, the lessons, and the leaders.

PLO 4 is the third most important on my list. PLO 4 is, apply research to support learning in a technology-enhanced environment. An educator must be able to validate his/her reasons for utilizing and/or selecting technology for the classroom. Technology is constantly changing and an educator must have the capability to conduct scholarly research regarding emerging technology practices and tools to stay abreast the latest educational methods. I ranked PLO 3 as the fourth important. PLO 3 is, design learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support the needs of all learners. Learning is no longer instructor-centered, it is now student-centered. Student-centered learning focuses on the needs of all learners and those needs are being met with the selection of appropriate technology. It is imperative that the educator is able to utilize technology-enhanced instruction to support the learners. PLOs 6 and 7 came in at fifth place. PLO 6 is, evaluate technology resources to facilitate effective assessment and evaluation. PLO 7 is, utilize technology to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings. I believe that the two go hand-in-hand. Assessing and evaluating is pointless without being able to facilitate the results. PLO 7 is only as good as PLO 6-without one, the other will not function properly. In sixth place, are PLOs 1 and 2. PLO 1 is, demonstrate knowledge and skills related to learning using technology. PLO 2 is, demonstrate knowledge and skills in current and emerging instructional technologies. An educator must be able to instruct using technology as well as learn using technology. An educator must also be able and willing to learn and utilize current and emerging technologies. Technology is constantly advancing and it is the educators responsibility to advance along with it.

Design and Development Challenges I did not have any trouble choosing a specific technology to showcase my learning. I already had a blog in place from another course and I chose to utilize the blog. When I was ranking the PLOs, I put myself in the place of an educator, the parent of the learner, and the learner. I ranked the PLOs based on my beliefs and knowledge. I believe, more than anything, that ethical practices are of upmost importance. I did have trouble finding creative ways to display my newly learned skill sets. I feel, in this final course, that my creativity bucket has been drained. I did enjoy learning how to use a blog more effectively and efficiently. I also learned about a new technology, called Scribd. I used this technology to turn my assignments into hyperlinks to embed into my blog. I did not have trouble tying together concepts and theories into one cohesive digital collection. I tapped into my knowledge base and it all came together. This final project is based on the Constructivism principle of create novel and situational-specific understandings by assembling knowledge from diverse sources appropriate to the problem at hand (Dabbagh, 2006). I put together everything that I have learned into one final project. Getting started on the final project was not too hard either. I am excited to complete my masters degree. I did encounter some organizational issues and design/format problems. I was able to correct them as I worked through the final project. Conclusion The Final Project used instructional design principles and theory to construct an electronic portfolio that aggregates redesigned prior coursework. The ePortfolio demonstrates attainment of the 8 MATLT Program Learning Outcomes. The ePortfolio showcases my learning from the MATLT program in a consolidated, web-based format that can easily be shared. Each of the 8 PLOs has been ranked according to a fictional educational work setting. A discussion regarding design and development challenges has also been included as well as a link to the final project.
