effectwillbelower.Incontinuousconveyorfurnaces,wheretheholdingtimeat
temperatureisveryshort(min.3minutes),thetemperaturecanbeincreasedtoabout
425C(780F).
Inthe'asdelivered'condition,theratioproofstrength/tensilestrengthisabout0.80.
Aftertemperingtheratiowillbeabout0.85.
Pleasenotethattensionspringscoiledwithinitialtensionmustnotbetemperedatthe
samehightemperatureasothertypesofspring.Werecommendbatchannealingat
200C(390F)/0.53h,orcontinuoustemperinginaconveyorfurnacewithaholding
timeof320minutesatabout250C(480F).
BENDING

Theminimumbendingradiusshouldnotbelessthanhalfthewirediameter.Wire
surfacesshouldbefreefromanydamagecausedbytooling,sinceslightimperfectionsin
thesurfacecanleadtofractureevenatlargebendingradii.
