ANSYS 10.0 Release Errata

1. Program Errata
The following items are features introduced in the ANSYS 10.0 release that are known not to be operational, to
be in error, or to have limitations, at the time of this release (Build No. UP20050718 on both UNIX and Windows
systems). Workarounds for these items, if available, are included in the respective descriptions.
The numbers in parentheses associated with each item are reference numbers corresponding to our internal
error tracking system. These are included here to facilitate ANSYS, Inc. technical support and help us ensure that
these items are resolved.
Service packs may become available for some errata items. See http://www.ansys.com/services/enhancements/spindex.htm for information about ANSYS service packs.
Refer to the ANSYS Workbench Products Release 10.0 Errata for information concerning the ANSYS Workbench
products (DesignModeler, Simulation, FE Modeler, DesignXplorer, and DesignXplorer Variational Technology).

Viscoelastic Material Curve Fitting

(33341) When the curve fitting tools are used for bulk modulus versus time data without shear modulus versus
time data, the TBFT,FSET command does not write the coefficients to the database correctly. The equivalent
GUI save and close actions in the curve fitting solve page do not work correctly either. As a workaround, use the
TBFT,LIST command to list the coefficients and use the TB,PRONY command to manually enter the material
data.

Launcher Option on Linux EM64T

(32537) The ANSYS launcher's 'Queue' option, which allows the user to launch a batch run for a later time on
UNIX platforms, does not work on the Linux EM64T platform.

Windows XP
(27757) Installation of ANSYS on Windows XP with Service Pack 2 will make the appropriate changes to the operating system so that ANSYS programs will be able to access the network through the Windows firewall. This
is necessary for ANSYS programs to obtain a license from their license server. Installing Service Pack 2 for Windows
XP after installing ANSYS will result in dialog boxes from the Windows firewall prompting you to allow our programs to access the network. Allow this access to use our programs as intended.

License Borrowing
Macrovision has created an incompatibility in license borrowing between releases. At ANSYS 9.0, we use FLEXlm
v9.2 and at ANSYS 10.0, we use FLEXlm 10.1.3. If you borrow a license using FLEXlm v9.2, you cannot use the
borrowed license with ANSYS 10.0. The opposite is also true: If you borrow a license using FLEXlm 10.1.3, you
cannot use the borrowed license with ANSYS 9.0. The ANSBORROW utility has been updated to include a selection
for which ANSYS version you are planning to run using the borrowed license. Choose your version carefully,
because you will only be able to run one of the versions (9.0 or 10.0) at a time with borrowed licenses.
Another incompatibility exists within the same release, between platforms. If you borrow a license with one of
the Windows versions (32-bit, 64-bit, or x64), you cannot use the borrowed license on one of the other Windows
versions, even on the same computer. For example, assume that you have an x64 machine running the Windows

32-bit version, and then you install the x64 version when it is released. If you borrow the license using the 32-bit
ANSBORROW, you will not be able to run the x64 version of ANSYS.

2. Documentation Errata
Coupled-Field Analysis Guide
(37455) Section 5.2.2, CFX Procedure, step 8, incorrectly states that "wire heat enysou(x,y,z)" should be entered
in the Source. It should read: enter "wire heat.enysou(x,y,z)" in the Source.

Guide to User Programmable Features

Section 1.1.9, Compiling and Linking UPFs on UNIX Systems, incorrectly lists the default name of the custom
ANSYS executable on UNIX as ansys.e100t. The filename should be ansyscust.e100.
Section 1.1.12, Running Your Custom Executable, should read as follows:
You can run a custom executable from the Customization/Preferences tab of the launcher:
Enter the full pathname to the custom executable in the ANSYS Custom Exe field. Do not include the -custom
flag.
When run from the command prompt (if no path is specified), the ansys100 script searches the current working
directory for the custom ANSYS executable (ansyscust.e100 by default on UNIX or ansys.exe on Windows). If the
custom ANSYS executable resides in a separate directory (or has a name other than ansyscust.e100 on UNIX),
you can specify a different path and filename after the -custom argument.
Caution: If you are running on a Windows system and you create a custom ANSYS executable,
the executable must be named ansys.exe. This requirement is due to shared library usage.
On UNIX, you can also run your custom executable via command line.
ansys100 -custom /pathname/ansyscust.e100
