Notes on Safety
This manual does not constitute a complete catalog of all safety measures required for
operating the equipment (module, device) in question because special operating conditions
might require additional measures. However, it does contain notes that must be adhered to
for your own personal safety and to avoid damage to property. These notes are highlighted
with a warning triangle and different keywords indicating different degrees of danger:
Danger
means that death, severe injury, or substantial damage to property will occur if the
appropriate safety measures are not taken.
Warning
means that death, severe injury, or substantial damage to property can occur if the
appropriate safety measures are not taken.
Caution
means that minor injury or damage to property can occur if the appropriate safety measures
are not taken.
Note
is important information about the project, handling the product, or the part of the
documentation in question, to which special attention must be paid.
Qualified Personnel
Commissioning and operation of the equipment (module, device) described in this manual
must be performed by qualified personnel only. As used in the safety notes contained in this
manual, qualified personnel are those persons who are authorized to commission, release,
ground, and tag devices, systems, and electrical circuits in accordance with safety standards.
Use as Prescribed
The equipment (device, module) must not be used for any other purposes than those
described in the Catalog and the Technical Description. If it is used together with third-party
devices and components, these must be recommended or approved by Siemens.
Correct and safe operation of the product requires adequate transportation, storage, installation, and mounting as well as appropriate use and maintenance.
During operation of electrical equipment, it is unavoidable that certain parts of this equipment will carry dangerous voltages. Severe injury or damage to property can occur if the
appropriate measures are not taken:
Before making any connections at all, ground the equipment at the PE terminal.
Hazardous voltages can be present on all switching components connected to the
power supply.
Even after the supply voltage has been disconnected, hazardous voltages can still be
present in the equipment (capacitor storage).
Equipment with current transformer circuits must not be operated while open.
The limit values indicated in the manual or the operating instructions must not be exceeded; that also applies to testing and commissioning.
Disclaimer of Liability
Although we have carefully checked the contents of this publication
for conformity with the hardware and software described, we cannot
guarantee complete conformity since errors cannot be excluded.
The information provided in this manual is checked at regular intervals and any corrections that might become necessary are included
in the next releases. Any suggestions for improvement are welcome.

Product Overview
In the various views, you can define the type and transmission modes of
communication links and define which devices, substations, control
centres, or HMI systems will be connected.
You can also select for each of the connected components, which
information will be evaluated in the SICAM PAS Substation Unit and
which information will be available for communication with higher-level
control centres and for power system management with SICAM PAS CC.
A topological view allows you to structure your substation data, providing
a representation of your substation's configuration.
Predefined device and project-specific device templates simplify and
speed up configuration and parameterization of your substation.
Feature Enabler
SICAM PAS is an open, modular system whose components can be
combined individually.
With the Feature Enabler, you can activate the applications that you
require in your project or on your computer.
Applications include the different communication protocols, the HMI
system, the CFC automation function, and OPC links.
SICAM PAS UI - Operation
SICAM PAS UI - Operation provides you with a quick overview of the
runtime status of your substation components. It also lets you activate or
deactivate individual components, e.g. interfaces or devices.

Basic operation
Four steps
The SICAM PAS configuration manager is divided into four views. These
views are four steps you have to perform during station configuration:
Configuration
The configuration tree arranges all components of your station
configuration in a hierarchy.
You will work in the configuration tree if you want to create new links
or change transmission parameters for data links.
Mapping
The mapping view is for choosing which values supplied by a device
will be used and how these values will be passed on.
Topology
This view maps the topology of your substation and assigns mapped
values to individual levels of your station topology.
Templates
The template view is for managing device descriptions and defining
normalization methods. You access these components during
configuration of your station.
Window layout
Each view contains a tree structure on the left showing you what you are
working on.
The tree structure provides an overview and allows you to select objects
to edit their parameters, or to inset further objects below them.
The right-hand half of the window shows the parameters and information
items of an object you have selected in the tree structure.

Archiving a database
Unarchiving a database
Archiving a database
Archiving of your database is performed in the configuration view. In all
other views, the menu item is deactivated.
Warning:
During database archiving, all communication links are interrupted and
automatically resumed afterwards. SICAM PAS UI - Operation is
terminated.
Proceed as follows:
Select the Configuration view.
Click File > Archive and select the directory where you want to store
the back-up copy.
Click Save.
The data is stored compressed in a *.ZIP file in the selected directory. It
contains the *.DB, *.LOG files and the ARCHIVES subdirectory.
Note:
Make a note of the directory, filename and information about the
database version so you can access it again later, if necessary.
26
Unarchiving a database
Warning:
During importing of an archived database, all communication links are
interrupted and automatically resumed afterwards. SICAM PAS UI Operation is terminated.
Warning:
Loading a stored project database overwrites the current project.
Therefore create a back-up copy of your current database before you
import another project (File > Archive).
Note:
If you unarchive the previously archived project database after an update
from SICAM PAS V5.0x, it is also converted.
27
2 Configuration
Warning:
Please note that creating a new configuration overwrites your previously
active project.
Create a back-up copy, otherwise all configuration settings of the active
project will be irretrievably lost!
See Archiving a database on page 26
28
2.4
Importing / exporting
To support efficient configuration, SICAM PAS UI - Configuration allows
you to exchange configuration data with other systems.
You can import a parameterization that has already been performed on
another system as configuration files. Or you can export configurations
from SICAM PAS and import them to another location to avoid having to
make identical settings twice.
You can import or export these settings:
2.4.1
Interface parameterizations
Mappings
Device templates
with SINAUT LSA Converter from the project data of a SINAUT LSA
station or
.
Depending on the configuration program, these import files contain the
configuration data of one or more devices or substations that still have to
be adapted to the requirements of SICAM PAS.
If you have worked on imported configuration data in the meantime in a
suitable configuration program, you can update the data in
SICAM PAS UI - Configuration. The previous and the new configuration
data are synchronized.
29

If you subsequently change mappings defined in PAS CC, you can
decide during export whether to export the changed topological data or
the original data.
2.4.3
Mappings
You can import and export mappings for individual devices. Mappings for
interfaces (devices of an interface) can only be imported.
You can import/export mappings for the following interfaces or devices:
IEC 61850
PROFIBUS FMS
On importing devices for the IEC 61850 and PROFIBUS FMS protocol,
all information items provided by the devices are imported completely.
You will not normally have to use all information items. So you will have
to make a selection of the available information. To avoid having to make
this selection manually for each imported device, you can export the
mappings for a typical selection. You can then apply this selection to
other devcies using the import function.
This functionality also permits transmission of further parameters of
information items (e.g. for IEC 61850 the parameter Name) to other
devices.
Exported mappings can be used in the same or a different SICAM PAS
project.
You can perform the following:
35
2 Configuration
SicamPAS24.tif

Copying objects
How to copy an object to the SICAM PAS clipboard:
Right-click an object (e.g. a device in the configuration tree) that you
want to copy.
Select Copy from the context menu.
SicamPAS26.tif
The context menu only shows the copy function on those structure levels
and tree objects where Copy is allowed and makes technical sense. The
same applies to cutting.
or
Copy the object by drag and drop.
39
2 Configuration
Note:
It is not permissible to copy the project or the full server.
Copied objects can always be inserted in positions at which they could
also be created with Create. Lower-level objects are copied with them.
Inserting objects
When inserting an object, make sure the right level is selected in the tree
structure.
For example, right-click an interface in the configuration tree to insert
the device at this interface.
Select Paste from the context menu.
SicamPAS27.tif
Note:
Within a level, the names of lower-level objects must be different (e.g.
names of devices that communicate with SICAM PAS via an interface
must have a unique name).
Devices that communicate with SICAM PAS via different interfaces can
have the same name.
Moving objects
To move an object, first cut it out and then insert it at a new location in
the tree structure.
40
Right-click the object that you want to move (e.g. device on interface
1).
SicamPAS28.tif
Right-click the level below which you want to place the object (e.g.
interface 2) and insert the object (Edit > Insert).
Note:
Drag and drop is an especially fast way of moving objects:
Click the object.
Hold the mouse button down and drag the object to its new position.
Release the mouse button there.
If you try to drag an object to a location where it cannot be inserted, the
operation is rejected. (The mouse pointer changes to a black prohibition
sign.)
If you move the object to a level on which an identical object already
exists (e.g. same name or same address), a window is displayed in which
the fields to be adjusted are marked red.

topology tree and is the filename suggested to you when you export the
project database.
Explanatory text about the project (free text entry).
The PAS-ID is for a PAS CC system that is connected to several SICAM PAS
systems for unique identification of the SICAM PAS project in question.
Whether the project is running on hardware with a redundant configuration.
2.6.2
Full Server
A computer functions as a SICAM PAS server. This computer
contains not only the applications but also the data distribution system
(DSI server) and the relational database.
Note:
The first system that you insert into a SICAM PAS project is automatically
entered as the full server. Each further system is automatically entered
as the Device Interface Processor (DIP). You cannot change these
assignments.
If you do not want to build a distributed configuration, create only one
system (full server) in your project.

Parameter name
Name
Explanation
The system name can be freely assigned.
The name of your own PC, which you can change as required, is
automatically entered as the name of the Full Server.
If your computer is integrated into an active network, the first two IP
addresses of the network adapter are assigned automatically.
If another PC in the network is functioning as the full server, click the input
field for the computer name and open the Browse for Computer window by
clicking the button ( ... ). Select the required computer in the network. The
computer name and the associated IP addresses are applied. Change the
system name, if necessary.
The system suggests Device Interface Processor (DIP) as the name for a
DIP. You can change this name, as you require, and/or browse for a
computer in the network.
If you build a station configuration off-line, you can initially enter system
names here as text. Make sure the name entered here is really the computer
name in the network or correct it later on the target system.

The ports available on a system can be automatically calculated in this
way, if the computer name can be ascertained via the IP address of the
system (DHCP client or via a host file).
If a remote computer is accessible at the same IP address (the first one) and has
the same user rights as the computer on which the system is configured, its
resources will also be found.

2.6.3
Selecting an application
First select the application you want to use for communication.
Note the distinction between two application variations of protocols by
which you can communicate both with devices and with a control centre:
For serial or modem links:
SicamPAS14.tif
54
Note:
You only have to enter each application in the configuration tree below
an interface once. Depending on the application, you can use one or
more interfaces.
The OPC Server and Diamond applications can only be inserted on a full
server.
2.6.4
Inserting an interface
Select the type of connection and connection parameters of the SICAM
PAS at the interface level. You can use several interfaces with one
application.
Please note that a port must be available for the interface to be inserted
in the system resources.
(See Manage system resources on page 52)
How to insert an interface:
Click the application for which you want to insert an interface and
select Interface from the context menu.
SicamPAS15.tif
55
2 Configuration
Note:
The system only queries parameters if a unique assignment is not
possible automatically.
SICAM PAS automatically assigns the next free COM port, CP5613
port, the next free modem or IP address to a new interface. This does
not apply to the IEC 61650 protocol, where the IP address must
always be assigned.
For details of all the available interface parameters, please refer to the
application descriptions in the online help.
2.6.5
Device
You can communicate with one or more devices via one interface.
Depending on the application, you can insert individual devices at an
interface making use of the device templates available in your SICAM
PAS or you can import device configurations that you have prepared with
DIGSI, SICAM plusTOOLS or a non-Siemens configuration tool. Then
you will usually not have to make any further adjustments to parameters.
Some protocols permit importing of several devices.
See Importing device(s) on page 31
How to insert a device:
Click the interface at which you want to insert a device and select
Device from the context menu.
56

Note:
If you want to use the topology view of your station data for evaluation
and administration of the fault recordings in SICAM Recpro, you must
consider the following when mapping the bay devices that provide fault
recordings:
Identify the process _OPR information item as used for each device.
Note:
Information items that are included in a fault recording as marks
(e.g. Dev. start or Device OFF), must always be defined as used (Use).

Device templates
A device template describes the information scope of a device in the
monitoring and command direction. This includes not only the process
information but also the status information of the device.
The scope of supply of SICAM PAS UI - Configuration contains a device
template for each communication protocol.
You can take over the templates unchanged in the configuration of your
station or adapt them to your requirements.
Device templates are also available as text files stored in the installation
directory under ...\DeviceDescriptions.
The import function of SICAM PAS UI - Configuration is used to import
these device templates or user-defined device templates.
The device templates should be created in UTF-8 or ANSI format
because only these formats are supported by the import function without
error. If possible, do not use special characters, such as accented letters,
because this could cause problems.
To edit the device templates, use

Example
Values in the grey range are not recorded because they are within the
threshold band (e.g. 200). After the suppression interval
(e.g. 60 seconds) has elapsed, a value is transmitted. A value outside
the threshold band is always transmitted.
The position of the threshold value range and the suppression interval is
adjusted each time a value is transmitted.

Overview
SINAUT LSA Converter enables you to convert the project data of a
SINAUT LSA station.
The result of convertion is an XML file and one or more TXT files. The
TXT files are the device description files of the equipment configured in
the SINAUT LSA station.
The XML file is imported into your SICAM PAS project. After import, all
devices of the SINAUT LSA station are contained in the SICAM PAS
project.
For large Param stations, the project data is stored in two files
(Modul1.lsa and Modul2.lsa). On conversion, you only have to specify
one of the two files; the other file is automatically also converted. The
SINAUT LSA Converter generates a Modul.lsa file (download file) that
contains all project data from this.
The indices required for parameterization of the synchronization
commands with the necessary parameters are written to a
SYAP_xxx.txt file (xxx is the name of the download file).

Control information
The control information items present in the system have the name
_Adm. They exist at every level in the SICAM PAS (systems,
applications, interfaces and devices). They are used to define set states
of the the level in question. The values can be defined as follows:
0
These control information items have info type ADMINC. They can be
mapped to the HMI (e.g. SICAM PAS CC) or to a telecontrol interface as
an information item in the control direction.
A.1.2
STOPPED
RUNNING
These status information items have info type OPER. They can be
mapped to the HMI (e.g. SICAM PAS CC) or to a telecontrol interface as
an information item in the monitoring direction.
144
From the combination of the information items _Adm and _Opr, various
states are displayed in SICAM PAS UI - Operation:

Control information
The control information items for telecontrol/bay block present in the
system have the name _BlkAdm. They exist for the interface and device
levels in SICAM PAS. However, only the status information items of a
device level of a master connection have an effect. They are used to
define set states of the telecontrol/bay block of the devices. The values
are bit patterns and have the following meanings:
hex 10000
hex 20000
hex 30000
hex 40000
Note:
The telecontrol block causes the structure value BlockState to be set to
remote blocked, which is then evaluated by the remote terminal
interface.
To bypass the telecontrol block channel-specifically, it is possible to enter
the value hex 50000 in the control information item _BlkAdm and
transmit it to the slave device. The result is transmission of the actual
telecontrol-blocked value.
This can be done with the ValueViewer, automation, SICAM PAS,
SICAM Diamond or the remote terminal interface.

Note:
If the control information items _Adm of the application level is not up to
date, the system driver will not run (a SICAM PAS service). In
SICAM PAS UI - Operation, this is identified by a black exclamation mark
on a yellow background. This prevents the communication driver from
starting.
If the control information items _Adm of the interface or device level are
not up to date, the communication drivers are not running at all or not
running correctly. In SICAM PAS UI - Operation, this is identified by a
black exclamation mark on a yellow background.
149
A.4
Identification
In SICAM PAS UI - Configuration, the assignment to devices is identified
by a preceding topological view.
In the mapping (status values), the preceding topology can be seen as
SICAM PAS\computer_name\application\interface\device.
This means, for example, that an _Opr variable with the topology SICAM
PAS\MyPC\DNP 3.0 Master\COM4 is assigned to the DNP interface
COM4 of the PC MyPC.
This method can be applied to all status information items described
above. If the topology changes, the new topology is also shown in the
mapping.
In the ValueViewer, the technological address is always visible under
ValuePath. (The technological address is derived from the configuration
tree.)
