El Dr. Sergio Kuttler recibió su titulo de Cirujano Dentista en el año 1978 de la Universidad
Tecnológica De México. Ha ejercido Odontología General por varios años, en 1984 recibe el
Certificado de Posgrado en Endodoncia de la Universidad Del Sur De California (USC). El Dr.
Kuttler ha estado involucrado en la enseñanza de la especialidad de Endodoncia desde que
se graduó de USC y ejerciendo la profesión solo limitada a la Endodoncia. Las áreas de
interés en la investigación para el Dr. Kuttler han sido los instrumentos de níquel titanio,
restauración de dientes tratados endodonticamente, irrigación del conducto radicular y
obturacion tridimencional del conducto radicular, en las cuales ha publicado varios artículos en
revistas de la especialidad de Endodoncia así como en otras publicaciones reconocidas
mundialmente. También es uno de los coautores de la sexta edición del libro “Terapia
Endodontica” del Dr. Franklin S. Weine. El Dr. Kuttler trabajo/trabaja como editor en varias
publicaciones internacionales (JOE, AME, ADM, ROOTS, ENDODONTIC TOPICS). El Dr.
Kuttler ha sido el Jefe del Departamento de Endodoncia y actualmente tiene el cargo de
Profesor del Departamento de Endodoncia y Sub-Director de la Escuela de Medicina Dental
de Nova Southeastern University en Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, y es responsable de todos
los Programas De Educación Avanzada en Nova. El Dr. Kuttler es un endodoncista
mundialmente reconocido y un conferencista internacional con una experiencia de más de 270
cursos y/o conferencias dictadas mundialmente (USA, Norte, Centro y Sud America, Europa,
Asia) El Dr. Kuttler ejerce exclusivamente la especialidad de Endodoncia en la Practica para
Profesores de la Universidad.

conductos radiculares”
Descripción Del Curso:
La especialidad de Endodoncia sigue experimentando una explosión virtual de “nuevas

técnicas”, “nuevos materiales” y “nuevos instrumentos”. ¿Cuántos de estos materiales,
instrumentos o técnicas resistirán el paso del tiempo? Esto esta por verse y determinarse.
Muchos fabricantes de productos Endodonticos, proclaman guías existentes para la
selección y uso de sistemas de instrumentación rotatoria de NiTi, que son:
• basados en autores y conferencistas contemporáneos
• muchas veces sin ningún base ni sustento científico
• generalmente basados en comentarios anecdóticos o experiencia clínica careciendo
de bases científicas
Las limitaciones de las guías existentes son:
• que no toman en cuenta investigaciones científicas recientes sobre el tema

• no discuten los objetivos a obtener o los métodos predecibles para lograr una buena
instrumentación, limpieza y conformación de los conductos radiculares

• hacen énfasis en la importancia de la secuencia de los instrumentos por usar para

lograr una forma especifica “radiograficamente” para la obturación de los conductos
radiculares
• no discuten los objetivos a obtener o los métodos predecibles para lograr una buena
obturacion de los conductos radiculares
• hacen énfasis en la importancia de la forma especifica “radiograficamente” para la

• guías basadas en filosofías antiguas que ya han sido comprobadas científicamente
su ineficiencia o mas aun, ya han sido descartadas

Objetivos:
Después de la presentación, los participantes podrán:
• entender los objetivos de preparación, conformación y limpieza de los conductos

radiculares, y como lograr estos objetivos con el mejor sistema rotatorio de NITi
basados en investigaciones científicas
• entender la habilidad de un sistema rotatorio de NiTi sobre los otros para preparar,
conformar y limpiar los conductos radiculares sin ocasionar errores de
procedimiento
• entender la habilidad de un sistema de obturacion de conductos radiculares sobre
los otros obturar los conductos radiculares sin ocasionar errores de procedimiento
• entender los objetivos de obturacion de los conductos radiculares, y como lograr
estos objetivos con el mejor sistema de obturacion de conductos radiculares
basados en investigaciones científicas
• conocer científicamente las ventajas y desventajas de los sistemas de obturacion de
los conductos radiculares que se encuentran al alcance de uno en el mercado
• entender las características de los sistemas de obturación de conductos radiculares
• conocer científicamente las ventajas y desventajas de los sistemas de obturación de
conductos radiculares
• distinguir entre comercialismo y evidencia científica
• “La Ciencia” necesita dirigir la educación a los colegas, si queremos que tomen en
cuanta seriamente a la especialidad de Endodoncia
