LFC5000 Virtual Keypad

Overview

This manual will take you through the steps of setting up the
Virtual Keypad system on the LFC 5000 fluid management
system. It also deals with troubleshooting problems that arise
from the setup.
The Virtual Keypad system allows you to start a dispense
direct from a shop PC located on the Site Network. The Virtual
Keypad client is a small, stand-alone application. This will need
to be installed on any PC that you wish to use to dispense
from. The Virtual Keypad client software takes and verifies the
user PIN, allows entry of all relevant dispense information and
then passes this data to the second part of the system, the Virtual Keypad server. The Virtual Keypad server is integrated into
the LFC5000 master PC software. The software contains an
interface to the PC network environment that accepts connections from the Virtual Keypad clients and passes data between
them and the fluid management dispense units.
The fluid management PC software must be running all the
time for the Virtual Keypads to be able to operate. Closing the
fluid management software will stop the keypad server and no
dispensing from the Virtual Keypads will not be possible.

Remote Report Software Software that installs on any PC

that is on the Site Network that allows a user to print a report
from the LFC5000 to their local printer
Remote Flash Loader Software Software that can be installed on any PC connected to the Lincoln Network that can
be used to upgrade the sites firmware.

Lincoln LFC5000 system. All Dispense Units, Keypads, and the
Master PC are connected to the Lincoln Network.
Site Network Ethernet network already installed and setup
at the site. All of the sites PCs would be connected to this
network.
Ethernet Network A series of devices connected by network
cables (Cat 5) to make a local area networks (LAN).
Cat 5 Known as Category 5 which is the type of twisted pair
cable commonly used in Ethernet network. Cat 5 has been
replaced by Cat 5e and Cat 6. Cat 5 cables have RJ45 connectors on the end of the connector for connecting to its specified

FAQ

Q Will a firewall on the keypad client PC or the keypad server

PC cause problems?
A) Possibly. It is very likely that any firewall that is running on
either the keypad client machine or the keypad server machine
will need to be configured to ensure that the both the keypad
server AND the Virtual Keypad client software can gain access
to the network. Check the documentation of the firewall on the
relevant machine on how to do this.
Q) Can a VKC be used with 2 different fluid management
systems?
A) No. Although a VKC can connect to any keypad server on
the network, it is not designed to switch between active servers.
Q) What If I need more than 30 VKCs?
A) At this time, the software is limited to 30 VKCs.

Support

Problem The IP I enter in the startup is not accepted by the

software
Resolution:
1. Check to make sure if the master PC software is running.
2. Ping the IP address to see if the devices are connecting, if
not, then either you have the wrong IP address or a possible firewall issues

Error Messages

Below is a list of common Error messages with short explanation. A complete list of error messages can be found in
Appendix A.
HOSE IN USE This error occurs when a dispense has
already been initiated for the hose targeted. The current dispense can be canceled from the PC software or the user can
wait for the hose to time out.
DU Offline This error occurs when the software is unable to
find the Dispense Unit associated with it. Check the network
analyzer on the master PC software to see if you have any
Red DU boxes.
FLUID LEVEL INADEQUATE This error occurs when the
fluid in the tank from the hose dispensed is at zero. Disable the
tank stock option or change the level of the tank in the master
PC software.
FLUID STOP LEVEL This error occurs when the tank level
for that specific hose is below the predetermined level in the
master software. This level is normally set so that the pump will
try to pump when there is not enough fluid to pump. Check to
make sure the tank level in the software is accurate.

Adding a port exception in the Windows firewall for the
Virtual Keypad Software
A port exception needs to be added for the Windows firewall
when you are having difficulty with having the LFC virtual keypad software connecting to the master software. First check to
make sure that the PC software is running and the two computers are on the same network. Once this has been verified
the next step would be to add an exception for the Windows
firewall. You will see an error like below if there is a problem.

5. Click on Advanced

1. Go to Control Panel in Windows

2. Click on network connections
3. Double click on the Local Area Connection item that is
connected to the sites network. This is the one that would
not have the IP of 10.10.10.100. Instead it would be the
Ethernet card that was already configured at the site prior
to adding the extra Ethernet card for connecting to the
LFC5000 system.
4. Click on properties

6. Click on Settings
