The commercial operation of the port of Thessaloniki is transported, an element that converted the area into
residential areas, by changing forms. The key objective of the synthesis is the connection of the area with
the city and to exploit the full of the coastline. Thus, tram is selected as the main mean of transportation.
The apartments are organized vertically and with different combinations we are able to create aspects of
diversity and different floor buildings. Basic element of the proposal is the public space and its
elevations. The ground floor can host activities of the inhabitants of the surrounding area while the upper
level transforms into a public space for the residents of the study area.

Kastania Messinias is a village that has kept to a large extent unchanged its
traditional character. The most buildings obey to the rules of traditional
architecture and bear considerably the elements of the architecture of the
past. After the analysis of a significant number of buildings inside the
settlement, we studied in detail the structural methods used in their
construction and the other important elements of each house, such as the
windows and the roofs. Finally, through the houses of the village, our
interest was attracted by a tower of the 18th century, built for purposes of
defense against intruders.
