Summary of PFD
1) Wild naphtha stream from hydrotreater and wild naphtha stream from crude unit are
mixed and sent to naphtha stabilizer column (refluxed with partial condenser). Heavy
components pentanes and heavy naphtha are collected at the bottom of the column.
2) Light ends distillate (butane and lighter) are sent to an amine absorber, where aqueous
MDEA 40% w/w MDEA, $4.50/1000 gal is used to absorb the H 2 S in the gas stream.
Sour water is processed at a cost of $3.80/1000 gal.
3) The sweet gas is sent to a lean oil absorber, where lean oil 90% diesel, 10% naphtha
is used to recover propane and heavier components. The resultant fuel gas stream,
which might contain some propane, will be used for refinery heating.
4) The fat oil, which contained absorbed gases, is sent back to the refinerys crude unit. It is
assumed that the refinery will strip the absorbed gases and return them along with the
crude off-gas. A processing fee of $5/bbl of recovered material is incurred.
5) This gas stream is sent to a fractionation train, starting with a propanizer, then a
debutanizer, and lastly, a butane splitter. The pentanes and heavy naphtha from the
butanizer will be mixed with the stabilized naphtha stream from step 1.
6) All NGL products are put under valves to reduce to specified product pressures (60 psig,
except for propanes 300 psig), and cooled to the specified product temperature (100F).
