THE LIFE OF POWER SERIES

Topic 1: The Power of Purpose

(Knowing your Calling and Gifts)
By; Ptr Joseph Celfo
Text : Ephesians 4: 1-13
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the callingyou have
received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in
love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of
peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when
you were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is
over all and through all and in all.
7
But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. 8 This is why
it[a] says:
When he ascended on high,
he took many captives
and gave gifts to his people.[b]
9

(What does he ascended mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly
regions[c]? 10 He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the
heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) 11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the
prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of
service, so that the body of Christ may be built up13 until we all reach unity in the faith
and in the knowledge of the Son of Godand become mature, attaining to the whole
measure of the fullness of Christ.
Introduction:
This year God Called us to do something new, He wants us to experience things that we
dont yet experience. Its a year of expansion and leveling up. The question is are we
prepared for it?
When you pray for direction, you need a preparation. The best way to prepare is to
know the task and who is in charged, but first dont forget to know who what God wants
you to become.
What is Gods purpose for this great harvest and expansion of His Kingdom?
Are you prepared for it? Are you walking worthy of that call?
Lets read Ephesians 4 to here his instructions
1. Lead a life worthy of your Calling

Ephesians 1:1- 6
- to lead a life worthy
- Be completely humble and gentle;
- be patient, bearing with one another in love.
- God called us and know us before we had known him
- other supporting verses ( psalm 139:14, Jeremiah 1:5)
2. Give a life according to your Gifts
Ephesians 1: 7- 10
- to each one of us Grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.
- he took many captives and gave gifts to his People\
- You may be amazed how come people have different careers some wants to become
doctors, police, soldiers, teachers, and etc.. because God is the one who already put
that in their hearts
- Supporting verses Ephesians 2:10 this gifts are prepared in advance for us to do
What's the Purpose of this CALLING AND GIFTS?
- We all have different gifts and Calling
"If you will not lead a life according to your purpose
either you'll live a worthy life or live a worthless life".
- You cannot scape Your calling and purpose.
- Illustration: Ice cream Maker
when a ice cream maker stops producing ice cream.. it looses its purpose and value .. it
will be worthless
- We should not stop doing what we are called to do, coz when you stop doing what you
are called to do. you 'll end up worthless.
- same with us we will not stop encouraging people as a leader. because that is what we
are called to do.
- when we say worthy, You are worth it.
Your purpose is to built up the body of Christ for unity
The myth of Maturity (wikichurch)
Ephesians 4:11-13
it should be verses 11- 13
11
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and
teachers,
12
to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up
13
until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of Godand become
mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

- some church people wrongly perceived this by wanting the believers forst to become
mature beofre they can serve and do their CALLING AND APPLY THEIR GIFTS. 13, 12,
11 OR 13-11-12
The process should be according to the verses first verse 11 then 12 and 13
11 to know your Calling for unity
12 to use your Gifts for ministry
13 to reach maturity
Conclusion:
- We will serve the Lord because we have a calling and purpose and that is to unify the
body of Christ and reach Maturity.
- UNITY and MATURITY of the BODY. That is our ultimate goal in which this is the
prayer of Jesus that is yet unanswered.
Today theres a wake-up call to walk on it and start to build up and prepare for that great
calling. Now will you take the challenge to really seek God for that calling?
