RULES & REGULATIONS FOR THE PROPOSED EVENTS:

1. MOVIE SCREENING AND PRESENTATION


This event will mark the beginning of the celebration of E WEEK " AVSAR' 10" .
There will be a screening of a movie on 1Feb 2010. The movie will be preferably a business education
based; but that won’t be revealed initially. The participants have to submit a write up initially after the
movie show gets over. Then they will be asked for repairing a final presentation what will be presented
on 5 Feb later on. Only screened write up’s will go to the presentation stage. The write up will be about
the five major points of learning from the movie. A minimal entry fees of rs.10 will be charged. It will
be a team event(a group of two or individual participation).After the completion of the first phase
names of the selected candidates will be announced on the following day by 2 pm. The event will be
judged by a panel comprising of Bimtech faculty.

Rules:
 1.A movie related about Business education will be shown.
 2.Participants will have to bring a piece of paper and a pen along with them(one sheet per team).
 3.participants have to analyze the film and the write up must not exceed 150 words.
 4.Initial analysis will be submitted in 20 minutes time.
 5.Time duration for the presentation will be 10 minutes and q & a for 5 more minutes.
 6.Inter branch groups can be formed.
 7.Name of interested participants should be mailed to Pallavi Jain or Soumallya Paul by 31 Jan 2010
12.00 pm.

2. ENTREPRENEURSHIP QUOTIENT:

 The entrepreneur quotient of participants is measured by subjecting them to a series of tasks namely
 Questionnaire which measures decision taking ability of the participants.
 Thematic aptitude test in which a picture is shown, participant is ask to interpret the picture.
 Ring test in which rings are given, participants are asked target an object placed on the table in rows
the cheapest object is placed close to the participants and the most valuable object a farthest end, which
measures the risk taking abilities of the participants.
 Group discussion on a weird topic which measures the convincing skills of the participants.
 Based on the given sub events the entrepreneur quotient is measured.
3. Rs 50 CHALLENGE

 The participants are given Rs 50 in the morning.


 Volunteer is assigned with each participant.
 Participant is required to maximize he returns by evening.
 The participants are free to invest money and earn returns by any rightful and logical ways.

5. LIVE WIRE
 Experience real life scenario on a run time basis by participating in this event.
 The event is about designing a strategy of success for an entrepreneur and his venture.
 The medium size business deals in various kinds of batteries. Although not a very well established
brand nationally but has a large acceptance in the rural areas of UP and surrounding states.
 Given a number of constraints by the person himself you have to design a solution for the given
problem.
 This event helps you get a live exposure to what could be your future Endeavour and also get rewarded
for the same.
 Team of 2-3 students each can participate.
 Maximum of 10 teams will get selected for the final round wherein they have to present the solution to
the judges and would be given a maximum of 10 minutes to express themselves and prove the
feasibility of the solution as well.

6. DOCUMENTARY MAKING
Documentaries invited by students / colleges depicting the theme “Opportunities in India”

A panel of judges will judge upon a 15-20 minute documentary entered by a participant/ group. A member
from the group will present the documentary and answer questions that the audience or judges may ask.

 The team should have upto 5 members i.e. Producer, Director, Script Writer, Camera person and
Editor.
 The documentary should include both audio and video.
 It should be an original piece of work.
 Every team will get a maximum of 20 minutes. (15 minutes for the screening and 5 minutes for
question answer session.)
 The entries should be in a CD form.
 Format of the CD should be MPEG or AVI.
 Entry should reach by 5 Feb 2010, 4 pm.
7. PHOTO FEATURE

The theme will be : “Opportunities in India”.

 No equipment for the purpose of clicking or printing of the photographs shall be provided by the
organizers. The cost for both is to be borne by the participant.
 It is not a in house clicking contest and the photographs have to be submitted in prior through post,
courier, registry.
 Every participant can submit a minimum of 5 or a maximum of 8 photographs.
 The size of the photo should not exceed 8” X 6”.
 Photo feature submission deadline is 5 Feb 2010 by 5p.m.
 All photographs should be submitted in hard copy format. Also, the participant’s name, contact number
and name of the college or institution in the end at the right hand corner of each photograph..
 Evaluation of the photo-feature is subject to judge’s expertise and is dependent on certain variables like
quality of photograph, print, colors, clarity of the idea etc.
 The photo feature should be self explanatory and should be able to depict the message clearly.
 Downloaded or plagiarized photographs are subject to disqualification.
 Late entries will not be considered for evaluation. Also the entries exceeding the maximum limit (i.e. 8
photos) will be disqualified.
8. SWADESH

On the theme : (Opportunities Within)

 This is an activity judging your capabilities of observing and creating new things out of the things
around you.
 You as a team will be visiting a village around, explore it and will try to find the new business
opportunities prevailing.
 You may come out with the innovations that can be vital improvement of various hazards in the village
at the same time can be profitable.
 You may also look at the innovations that had been applied in the village which can be standardized
and applied in other villages and can generate business.
 After the visit, the teams require to make a brief 5 minutes paper presentation of what they intend to
undertake from their observation.
 The presentation will be judged by an experienced set of faculty members.
 A maximum of two teams per college can participate with the max of 3 participants in each team.

9.DEBATE
TOPIC: “ OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN

No participant shall address or direct his/her argument directly to fellow speakers. Generally all
opinions are directed to the audience and to the Chair (presiding person for the debate),in our case
we can forgo this part.

But direct address to fellow participants need to be discouraged.

Permission must be asked before starting ones speech,” with permission of the chair I would like
to….”

GENERAL RULES

 Participant ‘for’ the motion starts first followed by one in ‘against’. This alternate pattern counties till
all speakers are done with their speeches.
 Each participant gets 5 minutes to express his opinion
 After all participants are done; ‘rebutal&refutation’ may start.
 Participants may ask questions to each other and challenge others stance and opinions.
 Defendants must defend themselves logically.

Judging criteria:

On basis of logic and cogency of arguments


If participants are shifting their original stance.
Content, quality and effectiveness of arguments.
Presentation of thoughts.
Overall influence of speaker.
Negative marking in case of exceeding the allotted time limit.

In this event the participant team consists of 1-3 members each.

The event has TWO stages.

Stage-1 6-feb-2010

 In the first stage teams need to come up with the executive summary of a product which does not
exist but is suppose to be in future.
 Say for example Smart fridges, these scan the items present in them and as the items get reduced, it
directly messages desired grocery store and the person from the stores delivers items at home. Now
this kind of product does not exist now but is very much possible in coming days so the team has to
prove its feasibility on various factors in this summary.
 The product should be a innovative one.
 The dead line of submitting the summary is 6-feb-2010
 Top 10 executive summaries will be chosen by the panel and then these 10 teams moved to next
stage .
 Result of round 1 will be declared by 7-feb-2010

Stage-2 9-feb-2010

 For the second round the respective 10 teams need to refine their idea according to companies that
they have bought and present them before the judges in form of presentation clarifying on the
concepts such as,
 why they chose that product?
 Their production system,
 Finance used in various ways,
 Research and development etc.

Final decision will be taken by jury members and should be followed.
