Instruction for technological process approval according to

ISO 15614-1:2004

Sevastopol
2013.
1

INTRODUCTION
1.1 The main purpose of this instruction is a testing set of welded pieces which is
prepared by following way:
- semiautomatic welding by flux cored electrode into protective mix included
argon and carbon dioxide.
1.2 The instruction is prepared according to ISO15614-1:2004.
1.3 Welding is carry out on special area under the control of BUREAU VERITAS
representatives (third party company) and in-house quality control and technical
departments.
2. MAIN WELDING CONSUMABLES AND WELDING EQUIPMENT
2.1.

As a main material for test pieces production shall be used strips from S355NL
with thickness 100 mm according to EN 10025-3:2004.
2.2. As a welding consumables shall be used the following:
- flux cored electrode FILARC PZ6138 1,2mm, classification according to EN
ISO 17632-A T 50 6 1 Ni P M 1 H5.
- mix of argon and carbon dioxide (Ar 82% + 2 18%) ISO 14175-21-rC-18.
2.3 The main material and welding consumables shall have a quality certificates
2.4 It isnt allowed to use welding consumables with rust, oil, water spots or another
contaminations.
2.5 For test pieces welding shall be used a regular welding equipment (welding
machines ESAB - Origo Mig L405W), which provide the given welding parameters
according to technological process.
3. TEST PIECES PREPARING
3.1.

Test pieces for welding shall meet requirements of ISO15614-1:2004 (see the
Figure 1 below). Edge preparation shall be prepared in accordance with WPS
MSG.136.BW.PF.100.
3.1.1. For edge preparation are used gas-cutting machines Smena-M.
3.1.2. Joint preparation and fit-up shall be cleaned out 20-30 mm width to metallic
glitter before welding.
3.1.3. Preheating shall be done up to 100 before welding. For temperature control
shall be used temperature-indicating pencils.
4. SEMIAUTOMATIC WELDING BY FLUX CORED ELECTRODE INTO
PROTECTIVE MIX INCLUDED ARGON AND CARBON DIOXIDE

4.4.

heck sample shall be done in vertical position PF from bottom to top.

The maximum temperature of welding seam between overlaps shall not exceed
150-200. For temperature control shall be used temperature-indicating pencil
Thermomelt Heat Stik.
Succession of weld seam overlapping shall be done according to WPS
MSG.136.BW.PF.100.
The welding parameters according to WPS MSG.136.BW.PF.100.

4.13.

The welding shall be carry out in presence of BUREAU VERITAS inspector and
in-house quality and production engineers.
Examination and testing of the test pieces after welding:
- Visual test according to EN 17637 100%;
- Ultrasonic test in 25 mm depth from each side according to EN 17640;
- Surface crack detection test according to EN 571-1 100%.
Tensile test shall be done according to EN ISO 4136. Test pieces shall be cut
from top and bottom area of the strip (from weld penetration zone) - 4 test pieces
(in twos from each zone).
Transverse bend test shall be done according to EN ISO 5173. Test pieces shall
be cut from top and bottom area of the strip (from weld penetration zone) - 4 test
pieces (in twos from each zone).
Impact test shall be done according to EN 875. Test pieces shall be cut from top,
bottom and root area of strip 4 sets in 2 pieces each (2 pieces along strip axis
and in twos from HAZ (see figure 3).
Macroscopic examination. Test pieces shall be done according to EN 1321 and
etched from one side according to ISO15614-1:2004 for fusion line, HAZ and
welding joint visualization.
Hardness test (by Vickers/0 shall be done according to EN ISO 9015-1 with
strength HV 10 (see figure 4). If metal thickness more than 5 mm shall be done
two rows of imprints up to 2 mm depth from facing. Each row of imprints shall
include three individual imprints minimum for each of the following zones:
- welded metal;
- both HAZ zones;
- both parent metals.
For HAZ the first imprint shall be done according to ISO15614-1:2004 as little
closer as possible to fusion line.
Testing of test pieces shall be carry out in presence of BUREAU VERITAS
inspector and in-house production engineer.
On testing results is prepared he report of conformity. According to the report of
conformity BUREAU VERITAS as the third party inspection shall approve WPS.
