UNIT 1
TO BE: usamos el verbo to be (ser, estar) para dar informacin sobre edad, nacionalidad, trabajos,
como nos sentimos, etc.Usamos la forma corta del verbo to be en conversaciones.
PRESENT SIMPLE: usamos presente simple para hablar de hechos o cosas que son siempre
verdad: - Water boils at 100C (el agua hierve a 100C); para describir lo que hacemos
habitualmente: -She goes to school at 8 oclock; para hablar de algo permanente: - I live in Madrid
ADVERBS OF FRECUENCY
Usamos los adverbios de frecuencia para hablar de con
qu frecuencia hacemos algo. A menudo para
responder a la pregunta how often (con qu
frecuencia)
Normalmente ponemos estos adverbios DESPUES del
verbo TO BE: -Hes always happy
Con los dems verbos van ANTES :- I sometimes walk
home
Ponemos expresiones de tiempo al principio o al final
de la frase: -Every summer we go to France. I play
tennis three times a week. Expresiones de tiempo:
every month, every week, every day, every year, once a
(week, month, year, day,etc), twice, etc
Con frases negativas, los adverbios van ENTRE don
t/doesnt y el verbo: -she doesnt usually get up
early (temprano)

UNIT 2
PRESENT CONTINUOUS: usamos el presente continuo para decir que algo est pasando ahora
o para hablar de planes ya fijados: - Im reading a book at the moment
- hes meeting his friends tomorrow (maana)
HAVE GOT : significa lo mismo que have (tener):-Ive got a mobile (=I have a new mobile)
No usamos has/have got con el pasado o el futuro. En su lugar usamos solo have: - we had a party
last week ; NOT:-we had got a party last week
Podemos usar SOME en ofrecimientos y peticiones: would you like some ice cream?; can I have
some cake, please?

HOW MUCH/HOW MANY; A FEW, A LITTLE, A LOT, NONE
Usamos how much (cunto) para preguntar por nombres incontables: how much cheese have you
got?
Usamos how many (cuntos) para preguntar por nombres contables: how many carrots have you
got?
A LITTLE significa un poco. Se usa con nombres incontables: I need a little milk (necesito un
poco de leche)
A FEW significa un poco. Se usa con nombres contables: Can I have a few biscuits? (puedo
tomar unas pocas de galletas?)
A LOT significa una gran cantidad. Se usa con nombres contables e incontables: weve got a lot of
bread and a lot of apples. Se puede usar al final de la frase para significar mucho: I like Kevin a
lot (me gusta mucho Kevin)
NONE significa ninguna/o. Se usa con nombres contables e incontables. I wanted a slice of
pizza but there was none (quera un trozo de pizza pero no haba ninguno)

TOO /ENOUGH
Usamos too+ adjetivo para significar demasiado: these shoes are too small (estos zapatos son
demasiado pequeos). Se usa ANTES del adjetivo: her jumper is too small
Usamos not enough para decir que no hay o que no es suficiente: there isnt enough sugar in my
coffee (no hay suficiente azcar en mi caf). Se usa DESPUES del adjetivo: her jumper isnt big
enough.

EL FUTURO CON WILL
Usamos will /wont (will not) para hablar de lo que pasar en el futuro pero como si lo
predijramos (como con una bola de cristal), para suposiciones: I think Sam will love the present
(no lo sabemos seguro)
Tambin para decisiones espontneas: I forgot to buy the present, Ill buy it now (me olvid de
comprar el regalo, lo comprar ahora)
Para ofrecimientos o sugerencias o peticiones: Ill open the door, will you close the door, please?
A menudo usamos WILL/WONT (will not) con I think, I hope (espero), Im sure (estoy seguro): I
think the teacher will be fine (creo que el professor estar bien); Im sure everything will be
fine(estoy seguro de que todo ir bien); I hope she wont mind (espero que no le importe)
A menudo usamos WILL/WONT con maybe (quiz/s), probably(probablemente), y
perhaps( quizs): it will probably snow this weekend (puede que llueva este fin de semana);
perhaps well go to a restaurant (quizs vayamos a un restaurante)

TO BE GOING TO
Usamos to be going to para hablar de planes futuros decididos con anterioridad (1 decido,
despus hago): Im going to wash the car; para prediciones seguras (una pista me indica lo que va
a pasar): Look at the shy. Its going to be a beautiful day.

FIRST CONDITIONAL
Usamos el PRIMER CONDICIONAL para hablar de cosas que pasarn o no pasarn en una
posible situacin. Se plantea una condicin para que algo pase: if I see Simona (condicin), Ill
tell her about the party(resultado)
Usamos no one /nobody (nadie) con frases afirmativas: no one/nobody came to my party (nadie
vino a mi fiesta)
Usamos nothing (nada) con frases afirmativas para referirnos a cosas : I can do nothing (no puedo
hacer nada)
Usamos everyone/everybody (todos) para referirnos a personas. Es una palabra SINGULAR:
everybody is here (todos estn aqu)
CON TODAS ESTAS PALABRAS USAMOS SIEMPRE LA 3 PERSONA: nothing is important

Usamos el presente perfecto para hablar de experiencias y no decimos cuando pasaron: Ive seen

Para hablar de algo que pas en el pasado contina hasta el presente: Ive lived here for a year
A menudo usamos ever (alguna vez) para preguntar por experiencias: have you ever ridden a
bike? (has ido en moto alguna vez?)
A menudo usamos never con presente perfecto: Maria has never been ill in her life (Maria nunca
ha estado enfermo)
SHOULD/SHOULDNT
Significa DEBERA/NO DEBERA. Se usa para dar consejo: he is tired. he should go to bed
earlier (est cansado. Debera acostarse antes)

LA PASIVA
La pasiva se usa cuando es ms importante lo que se hace que quien lo hace: his shirts are made in
the USA (sus camisas son hechas en USA)
