Baltimore Police Department update in the investigation into the death of Mr. Freddie Gray. We have received numerous requests to photograph the interior of our prisoner transport vans. The interior of the prisoner transport van is part of an ongoing investigation and we are unable to allow media access at this time. The Baltimore Police Department has a policy requiring all prisoners to be properly seat belted during transport. We will cancel leave for members of the agency to ensure adequate coverage of the city. The Baltimore Police Department, as a matter of past practice, asks for the assistance of local and state law enforcement partners, for any large-scale event, festival, and other occasions that draw large crowds. The Baltimore Police Department will continue to do everything possible to ensure the safety of those engaged in the expression of their constitutional rights. As the investigation moves forward, anyone with information please contact the Force Investigation Team 410-637-3097 or 3098. -END-
