I'm glad to see you made it here safely.
You will not regret your decision to immigrate here, I guarantee you that.
As a new citizen, you probably dont know much of the magnificent Ezo
Empire
or its people.
Under other circumstances, I would have my Chief Assistant Salazar give you a
brief tour of the Kingdom...but these are busy times.
My entire staff is working frantically to manage the big contest.
What big contest, you say?
Well, due to my daughters indecisiveness, we are holding a competition
to
decide who her husband will be.
Princess Vespa is about to turn 18, you see, and Ezo law dictates that she
must choose her husband before her 18th birthday.
All of the people of the land have been invited to compete for my
daughters hand in marriage, yourself included.
But dont think itll be easy. I have prepared a quiz of sorts to test each
candidate to make sure that theyre good enough for my daughter, and knowledgeable
enough to run the kingdom.

The questions will focus on the daily lives of the citizens of Ezo living near the

castle.
As King, I feel it is my duty to be familiar with the townsfolk, and to have a
basic
understanding of their daily activities. I want my successor to go above and beyond me
in this task.
However, Im not looking for someone who will only exchange pleasantries
with
his people. I want my successor to know intimate details of his potential future
subjects.
Therefore, I will be asking every contestant questions about the secret
scandals and rumors that buzz around this area.
The one who proves himself to be most knowledgeable shall gain my
daughters hand in marriage, and eventually will rule as the King of Ezo.

a lake, Ezo Castle, and the forest. Farther off in the distance above the ocean you can
see a small unrecognizable speck, and you wonder what it is. You can see small orange
shards littering the ground.

avoid sunburn and to keep his slightly overweight figure cool. He loves his great country

He usually spends his day reading and sitting on his chair naked--I mean, reading.

He loves his wife, Lauren, and large-mouthed bass - a little too much, some might say.
(unsettling obsession with bass). He is frequently seen in town selling his fish and
conversing with his best friend, Mike the farmer. Alex has a larger rue addiction than
anyone else in the kingdom. He takes such large amounts to stifle the guilt he feels from
being a soldier in the attack on Skyhold.

About Skyhold: Skyhold...the topic Ive been researching most...
Ive found very few sources on the history and people of Skyhold in Ezos libraries.
However, I did find something a bit unsettling.
There were plenty of books that seemed like they were about to discuss Skyholds past,
but they then dramatically changed tones, and began to insult the country ruthlessly.
The pages containing these anti-Skyhold rants are obviously printed on paper thats
much more modern than the other pages in the book. So my hunch is that they were
added in after the initial publication.
This raises many troubling questions - why were these pages added? Why were others
removed? When did this all happen?
My intuition says that perhaps this country isnt as pure as we all once thought...
And this is where I start getting depressed. I think its time for another healthy round of
Rue.

About Rue: I particularly enjoy partaking in the action of using Rue on a semi-regular
basis, which is dependent upon the co-terminal angles of the Moon, the Planet, and the
Sun, in relation to the moles of Hydrogen Atoms in the veil of Rue I will be partaking in.
MIKE the FARMER - Mike is a very important character. He is the only person in Ezo
who does not take Rue. Therefore, he is somewhat alienated, and his demeanor is quite
a bit darker than everyone in town. He has been around for a while, but is deeply
troubled by rumors of Skyhold-Ezo relations.

consequences.
You still wish to know? All right... I will not be repeating this, so pay close attention.
Make sure you do not tell anyone else this story, or I will be in a great deal of trouble
with the king.
...Where to begin...
Well...where better to start than the beginning - back to when Skyhold was a very
powerful nation.
Around fifteen years ago, Skyhold was the primary power in this kingdom. But there was
a problem.
The citizens of Skyhold discovered immense quantities of Rue only a short distance
under the surface.

If you havent figured this out by now, Rue is a drug that causes immense positive
feelings with no physical side effects.
Obviously, the inhabitants of the kingdom wanted Rue - as much as they could get.
Soon, the entire country had a seemingly endless stockpile of the narcotic. Every single
citizen could acquire as much Rue as they desired, at no cost.
While this may seem like a perfect situation, it most certainly wasnt.
Yes, everyone was happy... But there were problems arising that no one wished to face.
People started spending far too much money, and no one would confront any of their
personal dilemmas.
Beneath this happy, carefree exterior, there was a kingdom that was falling apart.
It was during this tenuous time that King Odin rose to power. He was a man who
detested Rue, and his first order of business was to ban the vile substance.
Obviously, this did not sit well with the addicted populous. There were protests and
outrage.
Some citizens were so upset that they set up a black market of Rue that expanded all
the way to the neighboring kingdom...Ezo.
It spread rapidly in Ezo - all the way to the aristocracy. But the dealers from Skyhold had
exorbitant prices. Those with money and power in Ezo wanted Rue without having to
deal with Skyhold thugs.
Thats when King Charles decided to do something...rather drastic.
He decided to initiate a massive, yet secretive attack on Skyhold. Ezo launched
everything it could - a blitzkrieg force of wizards and warriors.
Skyhold had no hope - they were helpless to defend against this brutal attack. The
country, especially the castle, was crippled beyond recognition.
Ezo, now imbued with a crazed bloodlust, wanted to wipe out the entire country - get rid
of any witnesses.
With the destruction of Skyhold imminent, King Odin approached all of the remaining
living magicians of Skyhold and implored their assistance in order to save the country.
Using their magic, they cut the entire country out of the ground, and lifted it into the sky.
Yes, thats how the country ended up as a floating island.
Of course, the story is far from over.
With Skyhold cut out of the ground, all of the Rue was exposed. Ezo was appeased,
and they called off their attack.
Then, history began to repeat itself... Much like it always seems to do.
Ezo decided to give all of its citizens free Rue. Obviously, the initial reaction was one of
elation.
But some asked questions, and others were skeptical - Where is all of this Rue coming
from? If using the drug didnt assuage their curiosity, the monarchy...took care of them.
Fifteen years have passed since then...
The Rue has deeply imbued itself into Ezos society... Its almost too late for this land...
Still...all is not lost.

Some of the townsfolk may have told you about a mysterious figure named...John Doe.
That is merely a pseudonym. He is in fact King Odins son - Prince Vladimir Skyhold.
His mission here is to win the contest in disguise, and take control of Ezo. With this new
power, he can unite the two nations and work towards abolishing Rue entirely.
So...that is the whole truth. ...How do I know all of this, you may ask?
I was one of the wizards who helped to lift Skyhold. Also, regrettably, I was highly
addicted to Rue. It wasnt until after the attack that I realized how incredibly dangerous it
was, and I have now dedicated my life to working toward its destruction.
All of the power is now in your hands.
If you allow Vladimir to win, he will someday control Ezo and can restore Skyhold.
Still...the choice is yours.

Princess Vespa of the Kingdom Ezo is about to come of age, and must choose her
husband. Due to her indecisiveness, her father, King Charles, has decided to hold a
contest for eligible gentlemen to gain his daughters hand in marriage. This is your
chance! Familiarize yourself with the citizens of Ezo to prepare yourself for the Kings
upcoming contest. You will need to surpass your rival John Doe and prove your worth,
winning the hand of Princess Vespa! But dont be too hasty! If you take the time to delve
a little deeper, you will find there is much more to Ezo than you ever imagined...

Our game really hasnt strayed very far from our treatment. Our core gameplay
mechanic mentioned in the treatment - asking people about other people and extracting
hints from their dialogue - is indeed present in our final game. We spent a great deal of
time making our dialogue subtle, but informative, and the voiceovers really help imply
extra meaning that isnt explicitly stated in the text. Our other major feature was the
story, and that has also remained very similar to our treatment. The only significant
difference is that the history of Skyhold was changed slightly in order to make it more
realistic, and less utopian. The thing thats changed the most is the user interface. The
GUI presented in the treatment was a bit too complex for our game, so we simplified it.
In the original interface, there were exclamation points appearing over characters, and
multiple menus to navigate through to simply talk to a person. We realized there was no
need for those exclamation points, and that we could simplify the conversation interface

to require one menu. Also, the travelling to different screens arrows have been slightly
modified. Instead of having a map with locations to click on, we have a hub area (Town
Square) with six arrows that bring you to each of the different locations. The art style
has remained the same, and the overall feel we were going for has been preserved in
our final product. Despite these few changes, our finished game looks remarkably
similar to the game we pitched in our treatment.

[Introduce Ourselves]
Andrew: ...and we are Team Boring. And THIS is our game, A Sequitur Adventure. In a
nutshell, its an investigation game.
Max: The main goal of the game is to find out all of the secret information you can in
order to pass a final quiz given by the King.
Mark: The entire game can be played with only a mouse, and you talk to people and
move around the game world by clicking on things.
Andrew: The game features over 400 unique lines of fully voiced dialogue, three
different endings, and a (hopefully) interesting and compelling story.
Max: One of the core ideas of the game is the juxtaposition of two differing tones. The
game puts on this happy, carefree front, but hides a darker, more serious backstory.
Mark: Now, our playthroughs turned out to last over 40 minutes if we listened to every
single word that every character said. Obviously, we have NOWHERE NEAR that much
time, so were gonna start playing as soon as possible, and well be skipping a great
deal of content.
