UNIT IV
Pathophysiology and drug therapy of the following disorders.
TB, leprosy, leukemia, solid tumors, lymphomas, psoriasis, respiratory, urinary, g.i. tract infections, endocarditis,
fungal and HIV infection, rheumatoid arthritis, glaucoma, menstrual disorders, menopause.

b. Pediatrics
c. Pregnancy & Lactation.
d. Renal & hepatic insufficiency
Outcome: At completion of this subject it is expected that students will be able to understand
a) the pathophysiology of selected disease states and the rationale for drug therapy;
b) the controversies in drug therapy;
c) the importance of preparation of individualised therapeutic plans based on diagnosis;
d) needs to identify the patient-specific parameters relevant in initiating drug therapy, and
monitoring therapy (including alternatives, time-course of clinical and laboratory indices of therapeutic
response and adverse effects);
e) summarise the therapeutic approach to management of these diseases including reference to the latest
available evidence;
f) therapy (including alternatives, time-course of clinical and laboratory indices of therapeutic response
and adverse effects).
g) Pathophysiology and applied Pharmacotherapeutics of diseases associated with following
system/diseases with of special reference to the drug of choice.
