Tempo, histria, transformao: abordagens etnogrficas

O curso tem como objetivo conhecer experimentos etnogrficos que, a partir dos anos 80, tm procurado
compreender regimes de histria e temporalidade nativos e, associadas a eles, formas de conceber a
transformao social. Embora o recorte proposto nos remeta a questes caras aos debates entre
antropologia e histria e, sobretudo, aqueles produzidos a partir das contribuies e crticas formuladas
pelo estruturalismo de Lvi-Strauss, o curso no pretende recuperar textos que tradicionalmente pontuam
vises em torno do que Alfred Gell(1992) diferenciou como srie a (tempo objetivo, caro aos eventos, as
cronologias e as histrias) e srie b (tempo experienciado, marcado por fluxos, ontologias e mapas
temporais). Embora as sesses introdutrias ofeream uma viso panormica desses debates, nosso
propsito propiciar um (re)encontro com a temtica por meio do contato com etnografias nas quais
concepes de tempo, temporalidade e transformao reivindiquem dos autores consider-las como
teorias nativas. O programa incorpora tambm estudos produzidos por historiadores que, afetados pelo
dilogo e contribuio das duas disciplinas, tm procurado pensar o tempo e a histria como construes
instveis e sujeitas a diferentes apropriaes.
