The kindness of God is immeasurable and unquestionable. In Isaiah 54:10, it is written, For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee. (KJV) This passage reminds us of the everlasting kindness of God which is being enjoyed by Godfearing people. Obviously, the passage is for the nation Israel, but we cannot imagine how we could survive without the kindness of God being poured unto the Gentiles also. What an assurance to know that through the Lord Jesus Christ, Gods kindness became apparent in the lives of people both, Jews and Gentiles. In Ephesians 2:7, it is written, That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. (KJV) Gods great salvation is an excellent manifestation of His kindness to a fallen man. King David was a God-fearing man who truly experienced the kindness of God, and through his words in Psalm, we will realize that God preserves the faithful and He could use them to be a channel of His kindness so other people could experience the joy-giving kindness of God. In Psalm 31:19-24, it is written, Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city. For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee. O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD. (KJV) Praise God for His marvelous kindness! David did not only enjoy the marvelous kindness of God, but he also became a channel of the same blessing to others. (I) Be A Channel Of Gods Kindness II Samuel 9:1-8 -We should find a way to do it vs1-5 David desired to show Gods kindness to Sauls house, specifically to Jonathans family, and he found an appropriate way to show it by his sincere concern to Mephibosheth. The words that came out from his lips revealed his kind-heartedness. Beyond doubt, kind words are more powerful than cruel swords. -It could be done through love-triggered action vs6-8 Kindness starts from the heart and ends up with extended hands. True compassion could be illustrated by unquestionable action. David fulfilled what he said concerning Mephibosheth, and evidently, Gods kindness was vividly displayed. Needy people will not experience the marvelous
kindness of God if believers hesitate to do what is right. Show the kindness of God and be a blessing to others.
-It should be done consistently
vs9-13 Kindness is not a seasonal display of ones care for others, but a continual manifestation of ones love and compassion to the needy. In II Samuel 9:13, it is written, So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king's table; and was lame on both his feet. (KJV) We could hardly imagine God extending His seasonal kindness to mankind. Gods loving-kindness is consistent and thats a fair and simple reason why true Christians should not fail to show kindness to others. The life of David was a superb conveyor of Gods kindness to others and a great encourager to the hopeless. No doubt, David was called a man after His own heart not only because he was a prudent man, but because he had a pure heart in obeying Gods perfect will for his life. Like David, may our lives shine for our Heavenly Father and may our lives become a channel of His life-preserving kindness so others may find their way to the Lord Jesus Christ.
