Southern Cross Group Services Lends Support to Our Big Kitchen
Sydney, 24th February 2014
Among the various social and community initiatives in 2015, Southern Cross Group Services
(SCGS) has extended support to Our Big Kitchen.
Our Big Kitchen is a community run kitchen based in Sydney. Its volunteers prepare meals that
are distributed to needy people from all walks of life.
SCGS will be sponsoring Our Big Kitchen Gala Dinner 2015 to be held on March 2, 2015.

Southern Cross Group Services Continuing its Program on Social Responsibility

Sydney, 4th November 2014
Southern Cross Group Services (SCGS) recently extended its support to Westfield Community
Program in creating awareness for Autism through the Giant Steps Charity.
As a continued corporate initiative, Southern Cross realised the "Dream Wish" of Giant Steps. The
dream wish was to have a Bird's Nest Swing for their students. A Bird's nest swing's physical motion
of swinging has proven to have a calming effect on students with autism.

Southern Cross Group Services Announced as a Finalist in the EEAA 2014 Awards for Excellence

Southern Cross Group Services (SCGS) has been announced as a finalist in the Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) 2014 Awards for
Excellence.
EEAA is the peak association for the exhibition and event industry in Australia and New Zealand, representing all aspects of the exhibition and event industry.
EEAA announced SCGS as a finalist in the Best Supplier Category for providing exceptional services in Security, Concierge, Customer Service and Car Park
Management throughout 2014 to the new Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island (SEC@GI).

The finalist nomination underpins SCGS' commitment to work collaboratively with SEC@GI Management to ensure a continuous improvement in security
strategy at each Exhibition and Event.

Southern Cross Group Services Awarded the St John Priory Award

Southern Cross Group Services is pleased to announce that it has been honoured with the St John
Priory Award. The honour was awarded for services rendered by Southern Cross Group Services
within the Priory.
At the meeting of the Priory Investigation Committee held at the Sydney University on 25 October
2014, the St John Priory Award was presented to Sam Johnson, General Manager Southern Cross
Group Services, by His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC.
As an organisation, Southern Cross Group Services stands by its commitment to giving back to the
society and is very proud to be associated with the prestigious St John Ambulance Australia.

Southern Cross Group Services Handle Security for Kim Kardashian

Sydney - September 13th, 2014
Kim Kardashian's tour to Westfield Parramatta on September 13 roused a frenzy among her fans. It was indeed a big day for several hundred Kim Kardashian
fans who pitched up to catch a glimpse of their idol.
The assembled crowd, many of whom had queued overnight, were there for a rare meet and greet with one of the most famous woman in the world. The
venue was further thronged by media, news channels, and curious onlookers.
Southern Cross security officers smoothly handled a crowd of more than 5000 collaborating with the Westfield Parramatta management and staff.

Southern Cross Successfully Completes the Second Class of its Leadership Excellence Program

Southern Cross Group Services (SCGS) is pleased to announce the completion of the
second class of its Leadership Excellence Program.
At the Leadership night, held at the NSW Business Chamber Parramatta, students of the
SCGS Leadership Excellence Program were awarded certificates on the successful
completion of the 12-week program.
David Borger, Western Sydney Director of the Sydney Business Chamber, graced the
occasion and delivered the introductory note congratulating the students and SCGS.
During the evening, students presented on various topics covering the latest in security
technology, customer service, event security, compliance, and the legislative provisions.

companies.

The Leadership Program, developed and driven by Stephen Butt, provides Southern Cross
a competitive edge in training and enabling their staff as the leaders of tomorrow. The
SCGS Leadership Excellence Program is open to all SCGS employees and guides students
through 16 leadership tasks including assignments and handouts for each task.

Sam Johnson Wins the WSABE 2014 Young Entrepreneur Award

We're is pleased to announce that our General
Manager Sam Johnson was announced as the
winner in the category Young Entrepreneur by the
Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence on
August 22, 2014.

further momentum to accept new challenges and continue to grow Southern Cross Group Services
as a successful integrated services provider" said Sam Johnson. "As we diversify into new
businesses, this award stands a testimony to the hard work of my staff and the continued support of
our clients", Sam further added.

The premier Awards Night function, held at Rosehill Gardens Parramatta, was attended by the Who's

Lifestart Kayak for Kids 2013
Southern Cross Security has donated $1,000 towards the Lifestart Kayak for Kids
event on Sunday 24th of March 2013.
Lifestart, a registered charity, provides early childhood intervention and school age
services to children with additional needs, including Down syndrome, Autism Spectrum
Disorder, global developmental delay and rare genetic disorders.
Our team will participate in the event and will be paddling hard along Sydney Harbour
in support of this very worthy cause.
Cerebral Palsy Alliance - Charity Golf Day
Southern Cross Security attended a charity golf day on Monday 18 March 2013 in
support of children with Cerebral Palsy.
Great Security Work Leads to Arrests
Well done to Southern Cross Security Guards actively involved in the Police
apprehension of offenders at a Chatswood shopping centre. The diligence and
proactive approach by Southern Cross Security Guards assisted in the arrest of a
repeat offender wanted for stealing offences across the Sydney Metropolitan Area.

New National Compliance and Training Manager

Stephen Butt has recently joined Southern Cross Group Services. Stephen spent 26
years in the Royal Australian Navy and was highly distinguished throughout his military
career. During his military years Stephen served in Operations in Iraq and Afghanistan
and was awarded many commendations in peacetime and wartime operations.
Stephen has formal qualifications in Government, Management, Training and Human
Resource Management. Since leaving the Navy, Stephen has used his skills in the
Transport, Aviation and Security industries and joins Southern Cross Group Services
as our National Training and Compliance Manager having spent the last 5 years in an
Executive Position.
