4 Approval of the Minutes of the tenth meeting of CEN/TC 346, Oslo 2013-04-10/11
The minutes of the tenth meeting of CEN/TC 346 were approved.
5 Appointment of the decision committee

8 Report of the Convenor of CEN/TC 346/WG 1 General methodologies and terminology on the
activity carried out
Mr APOLLONIA Convenor of WG 1 informed the TC about the activity carried out by the working group (see
Doc. CEN/TC 346 N 437).
Mr. Apollonia explained that the document on "Lexicon of alteration" is almost ready. There are only some
issues to define:
more pictures are needed because not all the materials are covered;
possible specific terms to be included in the text ?
Mrs VEST was of the opinion that is time to sum up the situation and activate the work item in order to
submit it to the CEN Enquiry.
Mr LEIGH wondered if some drawings, together with the pictures, could be useful in order to identify the
alterations.
CEN/TC 346/WG 1 was adopted.
9 Report of the Convenor of CEN/TC 346/WG 2 Characterisation and analysis of
porous inorganic materials constituting cultural heritage on the activity carried out
Mr YATES Convenor of CEN/TC 346/WG 2, informed the TC about the activity carried out by the working
group (see Doc. CEN/TC 346/N 438).
All the members agreed that the outcome of this Project could be useful for CEN/TC 346/WG 2 activity.
CEN/TC 346/WG 2 report was adopted.
10 Report of the Convenor of CEN/TC 346/WG 3 Evaluation of methods and products
for conservation works on porous inorganic materials constituting cultural heritage on
the activity carried out
Mr FASSINA Convenor of CEN/TC 346/WG 3, informed the TC about the activity carried out by the working
group (see Doc. CEN/TC 346/N 439).
Mr LEIGH, speaking about the importance of the standard for cleaning, underlined the need of a "special
judgement skills of the professionals" involved in this activity. Standards have to say that only professional
people can handle some procedures.
We need a sentence to put in the standard.
Mr TRUDSOE proposed the wording from EN 1990 Eurocodes:

2.1 Basic requirements
(7) The provisions of Section 2 should be interpreted on the basis that due skill and care
appropriate to the circumstances is exercised in the design, based on such knowledge
and good practice as is generally available at the time that the design of the structure is
carried out.

11 Report of the Convenor of CEN/TC 346/WG 4 Protection of collections on the activity
carried out
Mr. TRUDSOE secretary of CEN/TC 346/WG4, informed the TC about the activity carried out by the working
group (see Doc. CEN/TC 346/N 440).
Mr. TRUDSOE informed on the possible lack of funding for the support of WG 4 secretariat in the near
future.
CEN/TC 346/WG 4 report was adopted.
12 Report of the Convenor of CEN/TC 346/WG 5 Packing and transport on the activity
carried out
Mrs Anne DE WALLENS, Convenor of CEN/TC 346/WG5, informed the TC about the activity carried out by
the working group (see Doc. CEN/TC 346/N 441).
CEN/TC 346/WG 5 report was adopted.
13 Report of the Convenor of CEN/TC 346/WG 6 Exhibition lighting of cultural heritage Joint Working Group between CEN/TC 346 and CEN/TC 169 on the activity carried

Mr FASSINA gave details of the activity of the WG.

Mr FASSINA reported that CAMUFFO considered this collaboration with CEN/TC 169 very fruitful.
