USAF CRH
COMPETITOR ANALYSIS
Issue 3 SCL weights corrected

Issue 3 Amendments
Initial analysis was based on following table in draft SRD:
HH-60 Recap Standard
Configuration Load
Primary Crew

Rescue Equipment

3

Weight

250

Total
1000
750
2500
HH-60-Recap-039

It was assumed that SCL was 1000+500+2000=3500lb as it was not clear

that the rescue equipment had an individual weight of 500lb providing a
total SCL of 2000lb
Issue 3 now takes the total SCL as 2000lb

All text changes from the previous issue are highlighted in red

SRD33 - Mission Profile Analysis (T)(KSA)

Assessment of Not to Exceed Weight

NTE Weight assessed for 4000ft 35C take-off and

terminal area hover with zero thrust/power margin
NTE Weight calculation assumes:

Mission fuel incl reserves

4x crew @ 250lb each
2x PJs at 250lb each
500lb rescue equipment
875lb guns & ammo
105lb IR & RF expendables

= total SCL of 2000lb

NTE Weight is therefore mission EEW less removables

listed above

Aux tank assumed to be internal as HH-60G
Options are 1x194 gal; 1x 175gal or 2x175gal
Therefore UH-60M needs 2x 175gal which
will seriously reduce cabin space
With 15 min Vbe reserves it could get by with
1x194 gal aux tank

UH-60M OEI max continuous
torque is 135%
From cruise chart it should be
capable of flight up to about
120kt at the terminal area final
hover weight
It should be capable of OEI
cruise at the required end of
terminal area weight of
22,325lb at about 110kt
125kt
20,729lb

UH-60M Conclusions

HIGE Take-Off

Required take-off weight is only about 250lb above the UH-60M

MGW and well within the MGW limit for external loads.

Terminal Area

Hover weight required is 271lb below what the UH-60M can

currently do = less than 1% thrust margin

OEI recovery

OK

UH60M can probably just achieve the threshold

mission without change
Minor powertrain & structural modifications needed
to achieve mission with good thrust margin
Potentially Sikorsky could lever S-92 powertrain into
UH-60
PR material at HAI shows a non-standard IRS which
may be indicative of an attempt to meet threshold IR
signature whilst removing HIRSS power losses to aid
terminal area hover

SRD33 Mission profile Conclusions

All competitors have issues

MH-60M should just about achieve the threshold
requirements subject to EEW not exceeding the
estimation in this report but this requires cabin aux
fuel which severely limits usable cabin floor area
H-92/CH-148 & EC725 require extensive structural
and powertrain modifications to meet the Threshold
requirement at 4000ft 35C
