Some Things are Greater

Important issues which the present discussion about Begotten/Monogenes is

leading us to decide.
1.) What is the Begotten/Monogenes controversy (a brief review, not
meant to be exhaustive)
- The issue to now consider is: what Framework do we use when
confronted with evidence which seems in opposition.
2.) The case for Justice and Mercy being the Greater Framework to
establish the foundation (or setting) by which we interpret the revelations
concerning the government of Yehuwah and the relationship between the
Logos and Theos.
3.) Why this is important: How our decision concerning these things
immediately affects our understanding and teaching concerning the
Everlasting Covenant, and influences all our Theology concerning the Plan
of Salvation.
4.) Yeshuahs Divine Sonship in the Framework of Him giving us an
Exalted Example to follow and the Greatest Manifestation of the Character
of Yehuwah.
*My desire is to write each of these Parts as succinctly as possible,
respecting the fact that most of us dont take time to read articles which
are too long and which we may only have a passing interest in or disagree
with the author. My hope is that everyone will read each part, because we
are all being called to make a prayerful, considerate decision concerning
the Sonship of Messhiach (Christ) and what His Sonship reveals about our
salvation.
Part One - Introduction What is the controversy over the word Begotten
and what Framework should we use in deciding.
This article was been occasioned by the great prevalence of persons
teaching the Yeshuah was literally birthed by Elohim (God) at a certain
time in eternity past. There are are also those, such as myself, who
understand and believe that Yehsuah was not literally born of Elohim as
His first estate of being, but that this term refers to His condescension in
presenting Himself first as an Angel, even as the Archangel Michael,
preparatory for His eventual taking upon Himself humanity forever and
being called the Son of Man.
What makes this issue more of a controversy is the fact that the original
Greek used for the word Begotten in itself evidently does not give us
conclusive evidence to settle this issue. (I say this in good faith, in my
brethren who hold the different view, because there is convincing history
that the understanding of this word as intimating a literal being born in

heaven did not come into Christian thinking until the Latin Vulgate but
now even the historical debate of the meaning of this Greek word is itself
a controversy in Christendom.)
The Greek word used is Monogenes, and here is the meaning from
Strongs Greek Lexicon: 3439 monogens (from 3411 /misthts, "one-and-only"
and 1085/gnos, "offspring, stock") properly, one-and-only; "one of a kind"
literally, "one (monos) of a class, genos" (*the only of its kind*).
(Thayers Greek Lexicon says this: He is so spoken of by John not
because which was in him was eternally generated by God
the Father (the orthodox interpretation), or came forth from the being of God just
before the beginning of the world (Subordinationism), but because by the incarnation
() of the in him he is of nature or essentially Son of God, and so
in a very different sense from that in which men are made by
him (John 1:13). and further says that the idea and understanding
that Yeshuah was begotten in a literal sense some time in eternity past is foreign to
John's mode of thought and speech (John 3:16, 18; 1 John 4:9), dissonant and
harsh appears to owe its origin to a dogmatic zeal which broke out soon after the
early days of the church.)
Now Sister White in her writings does call Yeshuah The only Begotten
Son of the Father in her inspired revelations of earliest times in the
history of the Great Controversy. There is also this impressive revelation
which seems to indicate a literal birthing action: A complete offering has
been made; for God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son,not a
son by creation, as were the angels, nor a son by adoption, as is the forgiven
sinner, *but a Son begotten in the express image of the Fathers person*, and *in all
the brightness of his majesty and glory, one equal with God in authority, dignity, and
divine perfection*. In him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.{ST May 30,
1895, par. 3} But then again, some people read the context of the whole
paragraph as pertaining to Yeshuahs incarnation in humanity (Sister
White even uses words such as *brightness*, majesty and glory to
describe the incarnate Yeshuah and the character displayed by His
matchless condescension)
Now I am aware that some of my friends disagree on how we should
interpret and believe concerning whether Begotten refers to a literal
birth or if it refers to Yeshuahs condescension so let me quickly get to
an important issue this discussion is leading us to:
*What Framework do we use to understand revelations which seem to
oppose each other?
This is very important and is at the heart of why I wrote this article. See,
the framework or our overall setting and understanding which we accept
as foundational to our Theology (study and understanding of Elohim
(God)) will necessarily direct how we view and interpret scripture.

Let me give some prominent examples which have brought us together as

a people:
The issues of whether there is or will be an eternally burning hell and
whether the human soul is immortal.
Here are some scriptures which people who believe Elohim will punish
sinners in hell *forever* use:
And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed,
than having two hands to go into hell, into the *fire that never shall be
quenched*: *Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched*.
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into
*everlasting fire*, prepared for the devil and his angels
To people who believe hell will burn forever, we seem to them as people
who reject the plain testimony of scripture and they feel very secure and
validated in their belief and are not afraid to have this discussion with new
believers.
Here are scriptures which people who believe the human soul is naturally
immortal use:
For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to *depart, and to be with Christ*;
which is far better
Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body,
we are absent from the Lord:7(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8We are
confident, I say, and willing rather *to be absent from the body, and to be present
with the Lord*.
And it came to pass, that *the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into
Abraham's bosom*: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23And *in hell he lift up
his eyes*, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
To people who believe the dead go immediately to their places, we seem
to them as people who reject the plain testimony of scripture and they
feel very secure and validated in their belief and are not afraid to have
this discussion with new believers.
Yes, to these people these scriptures seem conclusive as supporting the
doctrines they believe And I could add to this list many such things that
many Christians believe the Bible teaches, such as: Peter is the Rock upon
whom the Church is built, Elohim would never teach Vegetarianism
considering the counsel of Romans 14 (and that NT clean/unclean meat
distinctions are abolished for that matter), and The Ten Commandments
(Sunday Churches) or the Laws given through Moses (Most Adventists)
were nailed to the Cross So how dare we fight against these scriptures,
which seem to many people, to be plainly teaching certain truths?
The answer that we defer to our foundational understandings to arrive at
a correct interpretation.. We view all these scriptures through a Higher
Framework which we accepted doctrinally and do not allow, even multiple
scriptures break that up *Because some things are higher*!..

Certainly as Seventh Day Adventists we already believe this:

While all the doctrines of the Bible are true, and certainly important. . ., **yet
all doctrines are not of equal stature and standing**. Ellen White quickly came to
differentiate among them by means of an interesting metaphor, the chief elements of
which are: (a) a solid, immovable platform, (b) four principal pillars that support
the platform, and (c) three steps that serve the dual functions of supporting the
platform (as do the pillars) and providing entry to it.[1]
[1] Early Writings, E. G.White, pp.258, 259.

This is simply to say that some things are greater than other things when building
foundational Biblical truth.

So we see plainly that it is our overall Biblical Framework and Theological Setting or
foundation which we have accepted which ultimately determines how we will
interpret and accept different scriptures and revelations presented to us in the Bible
and the Spirit of Prophesy.

Now let us return to the discussion of Yeshuah being Begotten/Monogenes and

make the case for which overall setting should be used to arrive at the correct
interpretation. <Continued in Part Two>

___________________________________________________________________
__________

Part Two - The case for Justice and Mercy being the Greater Framework to
establish the foundation (or setting) by which we interpret the revelations
concerning the government of Yehuwah and the relationship between the
Logos and Theos.

There are, I suppose, two different underlying Frameworks supporting

each differing view of whether Begotten/Monogenes means a literal birth
of Yeshuah or that Yeshuah is the Only of a kind, that He is Special/Unique

(a Child of Promise, just as Isaac was Abrahams only begotten

(Monogenes) although Ishmael was Abrahams literal first born). The
underlying Framework which supports the view that Yeshuah could be
literally birthed of Elohim and still be God essentially and in the *Highest*
Sense {1SM 247.3} I am not qualified to explain well seeing that I do not
hold that view. But my desire now is to share what is the Higher
Framework we should choose as a foundation to build our understanding
and Theology upon: the Revelations given us concerning Justice and
Mercy.

The first reason for this, is because we are taught that there are
foundational principles by which the Throne of Yehuwah and also the
Divine government are established.

The plan for our redemption was not an afterthought, a plan formulated after the fall
of Adam. It was a revelation of the mystery which hath been kept in silence through
times eternal. Romans 16:25, R. V. It was *an unfolding of *the principles* that from
eternal ages have been the foundation of Gods throne*. {DA 22.2}

*The ruling principles* of Gods throne are *justice andmercy*. {1MR 109.5}

In the temple in heaven, the dwelling place of God, His throne is established in
righteousness and judgment. In the most holy place is His law, the great rule of right
by which all mankind are tested. The ark that enshrines the tables of the law is
covered with the mercy seat, before which Christ pleads His blood in the sinners
behalf. Thus is represented *the union of justice and mercy* in the plan of human
redemption*. {GC 415.2}

*In reading this next quote understand how forcefully EGW brings out that
these principles of Justice and Mercy must be equal and each holding
Their position for the plan of human redemption to be effective for eternal
salvation and happiness:

As the bow in the cloud is formed by the union of the sunlight and the shower, so
*the rainbow encircling the throne represents the combined power of *mercy and
justice*. It is not justice alone that is to be maintained; for this would eclipse the glory
of the rainbow of promise above the throne; men could see only the penalty of the
law. Were there no justice, no penalty, there would be no stability to the government
of God. It is the mingling of judgment and mercy that makes salvation complete. *It is
the blending of the two* that leads us, as we view *the worlds Redeemer*, and *the
law of Jehovah*, to exclaim, Thy gentleness hath made me great. We know that
*the gospel* is a perfect and complete system, revealing the immutability of *the law
of God*. It inspires the heart with hope, and with love to God. Mercy invites us to
enter through the gates into the city of God, and justice is satisfied to accord to every
obedient soul full privileges as a member of the royal family, a child of the heavenly
King. If we were defective in character, we could not pass the gates that mercy has
opened to the obedient; for justice stands at the entrance, and demands holiness in
all who would see God. Were justice extinct, and were it possible for divine mercy to
open the gates to the whole race, irrespective of character, there would be a worse
condition of disaffection and rebellion in heaven than before Satan was expelled. The
peace, happiness, and harmony of heaven would be broken. {1888 1079.7}
Even with what has been presented, there is enough evidence to see the
Elohim the Father is associated with the principle of Justice and Yeshuah,
the Son, our Redeemer is associated with the principle of Mercy but this
next quote has always been, since Elohim showed it to me, foundational in
my understanding of the Plan of Redemption and the Government of
Elohim; it speaks about what Messhiachs work in coming to earth was to
accomplish:

We may understand the subject of the work of Christ. His object was to reconcile
the prerogatives of justice and mercy, and let each stand separate in its dignity, yet
united. His mercy was not weakness, but a terrible power to punish sin because it is
sin; yet a power to draw to it the love of humanity. Through Christ Justice is enabled
to forgive without sacrificing one jot of its exalted holiness.{
Justice and Mercy stood apart, in opposition to each other, separated by a wide
gulf. The Lord our Redeemer clothed his divinity with humanity, and wrought out in
behalf of man a character that was without spot or blemish. He planted his cross
midway between heaven and earth, and made it the object of attraction which
reached both ways, drawing both Justice and Mercy across the gulf. Justice moved
from its exalted throne, and with all the armies of heaven approached the cross.
There it saw One equal with God bearing the penalty for all injustice and sin. With
perfect satisfaction Justice bowed in reverence at the cross, saying, It is enough.
{GCB October 1, 1899, Art. B, par. 21,22}
In the first paragraph we see revealed the work of Messhiach: to reconcile
the work of Justice and Mercy and let each stand in His place yet united.
Here is a perfect parallel to the Elohim and Yeshuah. In the next paragraph

showing that we are to see in these principles something of the

relationship of Elohim and Yeshuah, Justice and Mercy are exalted as
Divine Personages, because Sister White capitalized Justice and Mercy. In
this symbolic parallel given Sister White Mercy is associated with Yeshuah
and Justice equated with Elohim Yehuwah
The main point here is Justice (Elohim) and Mercy (Yeshuah) must be equal
for the Plan of Redemption to work. It is true that both of Them have the
same character of Justice and Mercy, but in carrying out the Plan of
Redemption which was a necessary first condition before the creation of
the angels and other intelligent life, They chose to display and teach the
unfolding of the principles which are the foundation of the government of
Elohim by having The Father display more so the role of Justice and The
Son display more the role of Mercy.
These Two must be Equal. Not in One giving birth to the Other, but They
must be Both as enduring as the Throne of Yehuwah (which means
Uncreated One), since times eternal have Both been embracing in an
incomprehensible communion of Love.
Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each
other.
These Two MUST BE EQUAL: not One giving birth to the Other, Both having
Their goings forth of old, even from everlasting.
With this Framework in place we can see evidence for this all throughout
inspired utterances:
and the counsel of peace shall be between Them both. (The Covenant was agreed
between the Two of Them)
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of
God, and the faith of Jesus.
These two must be Equal
There is perfect harmony between *the law of God* and *the gospel of Jesus
Christ*. I and my Father are one, says the Great Teacher. The gospel of Christ is
the good news of grace, or favor, by which man may be released from the
condemnation of sin, and enabled to render obedience to the law of God. The gospel
points to the moral code as a rule of life. That law, by its demands for undeviating
obedience, is continually pointing the sinner to the gospel for pardon and
peace.{RH September 27, 1881, par. 9}
This is Justice and Mercy. Two principles which the Titles of The Father and
The Son are intended to teach us The Character of Elohim.

This Framework is Greater and establishes the foundation that Elohim and

Yeshuah in Their first estate, as long as there was a Throne for Them Both,
were both worthy of the name Yehuwah, both being Uncreated (for
Yeshuah is even called the Father of Eternity) with neither giving birth to
the Other. This framework directs us to understand that Yeshuah being
called the only begotten Son of Elohim is a manifestation of His
condescension, just as He also would represent Himself to the heavenly
host as One of them, as Michael the Archangel, as the Angel of the Lord
as the Son of Elohim. This was required of Yeshuah as He was the One
Whose hands created intelligent beings; beings whose love the Plan of
Redemption would ultimately secure and because He was the One Who
Covenanted to die the eternal penalty should one of the intelligent beings
sin and take upon Himself humanity forever and be called the Son of
man, the Lamb of Elohim slain from the foundation of the world. This
was all in manifestation of the character of Yehuwah: Justice and Mercy.

Also I would hasten to add that these are the principles of the Divine
government that Lucifer framed his insinuations against. Yes, he
instituted a rebellion against Yeshuah, Who walked in the same position as
him as an archangel But the very fact the Yeshuah was representing
Himself as an Archangel was in manifestation of the principles Lucifer
incited a rebellion against. I will try to show this a few quotes, but I
recommend you all reading Patriarchs and Prophets chapter 1 to see these
things more fully especially if you are unware that it was over these
things that the Great Controversy began.
There were some who looked with favor upon *Lucifers insinuations against the
government of God* Although they had heretofore been in perfect harmony with *the
order which God had established*, they were now discontented and unhappy
because they could not penetrate *His unsearchable counsels*; they
were dissatisfied with *His purpose in exalting Christ*. {PP 38.3} ~ (Who Lucifer
probably made it seem was just an Angel like himself)
The discord which his own course had caused in heaven, Satan charged upon
*the government of God*. All evil he declared to be the result of *the divine
administration*. {PP 42.2}
For the good of the entire universe through ceaseless ages, he must more fully
develop his principles, that *his charges against the divine government* might be
seen in their true light by all created beings, and that *the justice and mercy of God*
and the immutability of His law might be forever placed beyond all question.
{PP 42.3}
And this from the Desire of Ages:
In the opening of the great controversy, Satan had declared that the law of God
could not be obeyed, that*justice was inconsistent with mercy*, and that,
should the law be broken, it would be impossible for the sinner to be pardoned

God could not be *just*, he urged, and yet show *mercy* to the sinner.{DA 761.4}
Next, let us apply this knowledge to why understanding these things is so important
as they immediately affect our perception of the character of Elohim in the Plan of
Redemption to save us.
God designs that the plan of redemption shall come to his people as the latter
rain; for they are fast losing their connection with God. {1888 1690.1}
<to be Continued in Part Three>
Some Things are Greater PART THREE
Why this is important: How our decision concerning whether we
understand if Begotten means that Yeshuah was literally birthed by Elohim
in eternity past or that it is a manifestation of Their Character and
Yeshuahs Condescension - immediately affects our understanding and
teaching concerning the Everlasting Covenant, and influences all of our
Theology concerning the Plan of Salvation.
Why this topic is important to study: In order to be co-workers with God,
in order to become like Him and to reveal His character, *we must know
Him aright*. We must know Him as He reveals Himself.{MH 409.1}
We must know Him aright if we are to like Him in character and have His
name in our foreheads: I have declared unto them Thy
name,*merciful and gracious*, long-suffering, and abundant in
goodness and truth, {DA 19.2}
In this study, these principles are to us Life Eternal:
And this is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and
Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent.
The next step in building within our Greater Framework of Justice and
Mercy, which are the foundational principles of Yehuwahs government
and Throne the next step is to consider the Covenant Elohim and
Yeshuah made before the creation of the heavenly host
The Everlasting Covenant is called the Counsel of Peace and it was
between the Two of Them. We have seen in Part Two how heaven teaches
us that it is the combined POWER of mercy and justice that makes our
salvation complete. We have also seen that mercy and justice in the Plan
of Redemption are represented by the Father Elohim and Yeshuah the Son.
They are the Two Who Covenanted to save us and win the Great
Controversy to secure the intelligent universe from apostasy. It is
foundational to our proper comprehension of the Everlasting Covenant
that we know that each of the Two are Equally God essentially and in the
Highest Sense {1SM 247.3} We are not to speculate that Yeshuah being
called the only begotten Son as explaining His origin. We are not to
conceive that One of the Exalted Persons Who Covenanted was Primary
over a necessary Lesser, as though Yeshuah was always subject to Elohim
at His first estate of being as many are teaching now. We are properly to
understand that the Everlasting Covenant was entered into by Two Beings

Who were Both above all Law and each had no Yoke of subjection upon
either of Them (neither of Them was subject to the Other in Their first
estate of being):
Christ was not compelled to endure this cruel treatment. The yoke of
obligation was not laid upon Him to undertake the work of redemption.
Voluntarily He offered Himself, a willing, spotless sacrifice. He was equal
with God, infinite and omnipotent. He was above all finite requirements.
He was Himself the law in character. Of the highest angels it could not be
said that they had never borne a yoke. The angels all bear the yoke of
dependence, the yoke of obedience. They are the appointed messengers
of Him who is Commander of all heaven.{12MR 395.2}
No one of the angels could become a substitute and surety for the human
race, for their life is Gods; they could not surrender it. On Christ alone the
human family depended for their existence. *He is the eternal, *selfexistent* Son, on whom no yoke had come*. When God asked, whom
shall I send, and who will go for Us? Christ alone of the angelic host could
reply, Here am I; send Me. He alone had covenanted before the
foundation of the world to become a surety for man. He could say that
which not the highest angel could sayI have power over My own life. I
have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again [see John
10:18].{12MR 395.3}
I have some friends who use some rather ingenious wrestling to make this
quote still agree that Yeshuah was subject to the Father at His first estate.
But the Divine Sonship of Yeshuah is properly understand as the most
Grand display of His condescension and preparatory to His becoming One
with humanity *forever*. He would give us the most exalted example of
submission and obedience Not because He was birthed as a Son and
therefore always subject to the His Father; but because He was on
equality with Elohim in the sense that He was/is Himself also Self-Existing
and as equal in His original relationship to Elohim as Elohim (Who we call
The Father) was to Him Mercy and Justice must always have existed
together as long as Yehuwah had a Throne to sit on and a government to
exist in and a Divine Character (Love) to SHINE.
Still seeking to give a true direction to her faith, Jesus declared, I am the
resurrection, and the life. In Christ is *life, original, unborrowed,
underived*. He that hath the Son hath life. 1 John 5:12. The divinity of
Christ is the believers assurance of eternal life. {DA 530.3}
And here is the danger in getting this doctrine wrong. Because this
doctrine of Yeshuahs relationship to Elohim is foundation for all Theology
and understanding about the Plan of Redemption: how we chose to
believe will direct how we read, study and understand the messages of
inspiration, whether in the Bible or the Spirit of Prophecy and the quote
from Desire of Ages affords a perfect example.

People who hold that Yeshuah was literally birthed by Elohim in eternity
past also of necessity believe that Yeshuah was always subject and
subordinate to Elohim at His first estate (We all know He is subject now,
but this is properly understood as His condenscension, not as His first
estate of being). And not only this, they also of necessity teach that
Yeshuah *received* His divinity from Elohim by heritance of being literally
birthed of Him in times eternal past. So how then does such a person who
believes that Yeshuah was birthed literally birthed of Elohim and *given*
His divinity at His first estate, deal with the revelation above that in
Yeshuah was life, original, unborrowed and underived?
They explain that in Yeshuah was *the Fathers Life* which original,
unborrowed and underived But this destroys the whole intent of the
revelation. No one, in any religion, needs to have it revealed that Gods
(Yehuwah Elohim) Life was original, and unborrowed and underived
because if Gods (even God in any culture or religion) Life was not original,
than how could He be God? If Elohim borrowed His Life from another, who
would He borrow it from? From Whom would Elohim derive His life?..
The revelation is obviously saying that Yeshuah (Who is the only One for
Whom the revelation would need to be given) had His own ORIGINAL,
UNBORROWED, AND UNDERIVED LIFE within Him and this is His
*character* which He manifested in humanity the Original Divine Nature,
which are are made partakers of through the Plan of Redemption.
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that
I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life (John 6:57, 63). Christ
is not here referring to His doctrine, but to His person, *the divinity of His
character*. {1SM 249.3}
So I have faith that all who have eyes to see can understand the great
dangers involved in choosing a wrong understanding on what the true
nature of Yeshuah being Begotten is, especially now after Light has come
(whether we believe it is speaking of His origin, as being birthed, or it is
speaking of His example of condescension shewing us the mind of
Messhaich (Christ) for us to follow: Who though it not robbery to be equal
with Elohim, but emptied Himself and submitted to the Covenant agreed
to that we all might behold the Character of Elohim Greater and More Full
than we could have seen or known in any other way ).
We see how that quite rapidly, if someone holds that Yeshuah was birthed
of Elohim in times eternal past, how this leads to wresting of well known
revelations of Elohims Spirit despite the utterances being plain to our
reason what was to their intent.
What is more, if we disrupt the Everlasting Covenant by making One of
the Two Persons Who fulfill the Covenant by manifesting Their Individual
duty to that Covenant, by making One of the Persons (Yeshuah)

necessarily subject and therefore not the Highest Life as a Sacrifice we

can receive no Latter Rain and be among the 144,000 who are ordained
of Yehuwah to give their testimony and end this long standing Great
Controversy...
If we make One of the Two Persons Who made the Counsel of Peace,
subordinate as His first and highest estate there can be no Latter Rain:
All were to signify their acceptance of the *terms of the covenant* and
give their assent to *the blessings or curses* for its observance or
neglect. {PP 500.4}
*Just balances, just weights*, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall you have:
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
Leviticus 19:36
Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her
increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
That *the blessing of Abraham* might come on the Gentiles through
Jesus Christ; that we might receive *the promise of the Spirit* through
faith.
And if ye will not be reformed by Me by these things, but will walk
contrary unto Me
thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is
under thee shall be iron. The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder
and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be
destroyed.
The blessing of Abraham is the Everlasting Covenant: in the Covenant,
Mercy and Justice are to be Equal and Give proper *Balance* to the Plan of
Redemption: Glory, which is Character, means *weight* or heavy (or
heaviness) in the original Hebrew.
Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible
Just balances, just weights,.... Which were for such sort of things as were
bought and sold by weight, and these were to be according to the custom
and usage which universally obtained among them, or were fixed and
settled by them; they were to be *neither lighter nor heavier*; they were
not to have one sort to buy with, and another to sell with, which was not
just, and was an abomination to the Lord, Proverbs 11:1; *for "weights", it
is in the original text "stones"*, for those were formerly used in weighing,
and were with us: hence it is still in use to say, so much by the stone. And
according to Maimonides (w), the Jews were not to make their weights
neither of iron, nor of lead, nor of the rest of metals, lest they should rust
and become light, but of *polished *rock*

And that ROCK is Messhaich Let us follow His example: For he that is
entered into His rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did
from His.
Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in
heart: and *ye shall find rest unto your souls*. Even Rain for your souls
<to be Concluded in PART FOUR>
Some Things are Greater
Part Four * Yeshuahs Divine Sonship in the Framework of Him giving us
an Exalted Example to follow and the Greatest Manifestation of the
Character of Yehuwah.
I will present the only sure path to properly understand the Sonship of
Yeshuah: and it is through His character of Meekness and
Condenscension.
Gods Condescension in Saving ManThe Son of God does indeed call men,
uniting them with Him as brethren, conferring upon them the honor of divine
sonship. * wonderful *condescension* on the part of Christ*. *He became our elder
brother, that we might become sons and daughters of God*. We have been bought
with a priceand what a price! Christ volunteered to come to this earth and stand at
the head of fallen human beings, who were heirs of guilt, under sentence of eternal
death. We must have perished had He not borne our guilt and the wrath of
God.{12MR 61.1}
This understanding and study is important because in receiving this, by
and by, we shall provide that final testimony which the whole creation
groaneth and travialeth in pain until now waiting for: the manifestation of
the sons of God (Romans 8:19)
The Sonship of Yeshuah is in Himself the most exalted Example we are
given of what it means for us to be sons of Yehuwah.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, though He was in the
form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7but emptied
Himself, by taking the form of a servant,b being born in the likeness of men.
We are here called to have the same mind, the same character, as
Yeshuah and this is not only when He came to earth at His incarnation.
But this display of His character, which was also the exceeding, outshining
Brightness of the character the Father as well, which shined forth in
eternal brilliance when Yeshuah came to earth as a human being was
the exalted revelation of that character which had ever been being
unfolded to the created, intelligent beings from the beginning.
Yeshuahs condescension to be the Son of God is not only in relation to His
coming to earth as a human. Yeshuah condescended to become the Son of
God from the beginning that He might also be as the Elder Brother to the

angels as well.
Yeshuahs first estate, His first state of being, is not as being begotten - as
in literally birthed from the Father. But His first estate is as completely
fully owning the title of Jehovah the uncreated One just as fully as the
Father. Yeshuah was the Father of eternity just as fully as the Father. In
Yeshuah was life original, unborrowed and underived the same as the
Father Yet They were two distinct separate Divine Beings.
In the plan of Redemption, also called the Everlasting Covenant, entered
into before the creation of the heavenly host, it was decided that Yeshuah
of the Two of Them would condescend to display and live out in His Person
the fullest Life of submission and obedience to Elohim, which Life all the
created beings were to be called to follow. The Father would manifest the
fullest Authority as Supreme and be seen the Highest and Primary. And
what is more, because of the abundance and forever increasing of Grace
and Peace in His kingdom, which is vouchsafed us in the *Everlasting
Covenant*, Yeshuahs display of His condescension was always to be
permanent When He began to step down, it was of such a character that
in some ways, what He surrendered for the sake of His created beings, He
would never regain But of what He let go of, by it He gains the Love and
willing fidelity of a kingdom of intelligent beings who choose to be loyal
to the Godhead and the Divine government which alone is *worthy* of our
worship and willing service forever.
Between the Two of Them They would Live out the principles of Their
Character, which the reconciliation of Mercy and Justice in such a way that
ultimately the whole universe shall be secured against any future
apostasy and rebellion all while free will among the intelligent created
beings shall be retained an Eternal, Everlasting Victory!
What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: *affliction
(rebellion) shall not rise up the second time*. Nahum 1:9
But for us humans, this revelation of the Divine Sonship of Yeshuah has
even more significance. His being declared to be the Son of God with
Power was and is the decree of Final Triumph for all humanity which shall
be saved
Just as Yeshuah sacrificed that He may be the Son of God, by His sacrifice
we also receive Divine Sonship through Him.
And our Sonship is not mysterious (even though it is the grand mystery of
Godliness) In the Divine Sonship conferred upon us through Messhiach
our Saviour we are only follow the Example and Pattern set before us in
the Life and character of Yeshuah:
Who, Thou He was God essentially and in the Highest sense: above all
Law and never had any yoke of obedience upon Him, He voluntarily chose

to lay down this which was His inherent Supremacy by Original,

beginningless Existence Yes He agreed, even covenanted, to lay aside
being known as the Highest, equal in every factual, minute way (almost
completely identical) to Elohim the Father and in its place to be known
and understood as a Son One Whose divinity and authority had to be
given to Him, when all these were His originally before the creation of the
heavenly hosts.
Yeshuah shows us the Example, the pattern we are to emulate Complete
Unselfish, Self-Sacrificing Love the law of life for earth and heaven.
So much did Yeshuah empty out Himself - even as long as He was
introduced to the angels as the Son of God and as Michael the Archangel that all that He emptied Himself of He gives to us, that we might be also
called the sons of God!
While He has covenanted to become our Elder Brother, a partaker of
humanity and has carried the same into the highest heaven He gives
unto us as His crowing Gift: the Soul of His Life His Own Divine Nature!
We are to receive this doctrine fully, with all of our hearts and minds
thereby we are to grow up into Christ having Yeshuah formed within
the Hope of glory
Then we have fulfilled His purpose in becoming the *only begotten* Son of
God this is done when we shall receive His name:
In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is
the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Jeremish 33:16
For our sakes He has accepted to be called, and verily He is - as He
became: the only begotten Son of God; for His sakes we are to accept to
be called, as verily we shall be as indeed we are to grow up into Him in
all things Who is the Head: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS!
This is Divine Sonship. We are called to have the mind of Christ and rest
from our own ways, even as Yeshuah did from His.
Amen
