Come this fall, the Scotty football team will be

sporting sleek new uniforms: red pants and
jerseys, and white pants and jerseys.Unlike the
old uniforms, the fabric used in these ones make
it more difficult to grab onto to assist in a tackle.
I would term it a suction fit, says GHS Athletic
Director Brenner Flaten, much like all of Division
I Power House programs are wearing these days.
They are of the highest quality. Pictured above
and returning to the roster this fall are (left to right)
Trevor Toavs (returning all-conference offensive
tackle), Benji Phillips (returning all-conference
running back) and OL/DL Grant Morken.

Black bullheads captured in nets at Box Elder Creek Reservoir

Box Elder Creek Reservoir Sampling Done in April

Hwy 2 East
228-8280

SATURDAY NIGHT

Montana
Fish,
Wildlife & Parks and
community volunteers
recently sampled Box
Elder Creek Reservoir
(Bolster Dam) on the
outskirts of Plentywood
as
part
of
their
continued commitment
to the fisheries in the
Plentywood area. The
sampling identified many

interesting findings, and

a few concerns as well.
Region 6 fisheries
biologists Tyler Haddix
and Dave Fuller met
with
Plentywood
community volunteers
on the evening of April
14. Together, they set
gill and trap nets, and
also used electrofishing
techniques to sample

fish.
The electrofishing
effort was hampered
by murky water from
spring runoff, which
reduced visibility and
likely lead to fewer fish
being netted. However,
the effort did provide
good information on
the numbers of common

continued on next page

carp spawning in the upper portions of the

reservoir near the inlet of Box Elder Creek. The
crew observed around 18 large adult carp that were
preparing to spawn. According to Haddix, The
numbers of adult carp that were observed were not
alarming, which leads us to believe that they are
not the culprit that has created poor recreational
fishing opportunities over the past couple of years.

On the morning of April 15, the crew pulled the
gill and trap nets in some very blustery conditions.
There were slightly mixed results from the netting
effort. Last year, FWP had stocked walleye,
northern pike, and rainbow trout in Box Elder
Creek Reservoir.
Four gill nets and four trap nets did not
capture any walleye or rainbow trout, Haddix said,
and there were only a handful of northern pike
that were likely part of last years stocking efforts.

However, the number of yellow perch that were
captured in the gill and trap nets were a surprise.
While the numbers of perch were still low, they
were the highest that FWP has observed in the last
several years of sampling.
Haddix noted, With the lower predator
(walleye and northern pike) numbers currently in
the reservoir, it is possible that the perch will be even
more successful in their spawning efforts this year.

In addition to traditional game fish, thousands
of black bullheads were captured in the gill and
trap nets. While the majority of these fish were
small, there were ample large-to-trophy sized
black bullheads.
Community members
looking to take kids fishing this summer may want
to spend a little time fishing the bottom with a
worm to see if their young anglers can catch a mess
of these tasty little catfish, said Haddix.
As a result of the spring 2015 sampling effort,
FWP will again stock rainbow trout and walleye
into the reservoir this year. Stocked rainbow
trout numbers will increase from last years 5,100
to nearly 10,000, depending on availability. FWP
will also continue to stock walleye in 2015, but will
make a decision on either increasing the number
of walleye stocked, or the length at which they are
stocked.
In addition to stocking more fish, FWP will
be monitoring water quality parameters and
zooplankton densities within Box Elder Creek
Reservoir during 2015 to get a better sense of what
may be negatively affecting game fish numbers.

TEMPTING THE FATES

FACTS, OPINIONS & QUESTIONS as related to
The Saga of St. Marie

SUPPLY & DEMAND, what demand? St. Marie has
a large supply of heavily liened, broken down condo units.
Is there a demand for such? Nobody seems to be knocking
down the doors to buy them all! Bona Fides....Good
Faith, Honesty...or Past and Present Lackings? NVCCA
appears currently to be operating in similiar terms as was
done in the past, legally questionable!

SOME LOCAL REALTORS are of the opinion that
There is no great demand for St. Marie units, therefore
there is no market and expenditures do not pencil out.
They continue on saying This is not Billings, Bozeman,
Butte, or Great Falls....this is St. Marie.

SOME WISH the previous was proven wrong, so
well have to wait and see. In the mean time, follow the
money while keeping an eye on the legal, ethical, and
moral obligations while sorting out the facts. Question
the Answers is the advice of some.

SOME HOPE the investors will progress and succeed,
and display Bona Fides. But until we see the property
titles are cleaned up, and positive activities takes place,
i.e. all taxes ($1.3 million) and bills are paid, properties
are repaired and sold....its just all talk and appears to be
unrealistic goals and false dreams.

OPINION: Most of the current open 11 lawsuits
seem inconsequential compared to the big picture. Only
the lawsuits dealing with property titles are of importance
at this point, then follow up later with the other disputes
that further cloud the titles.

WHAT A GREAT DAY it will be when the Courts
rule on St. Marie property titles and many plans can move
on, one way or another.

Baltimore City Council

Apologizes To Rioters

Whose side are these people on? After the Baltimore
mayor said that she wanted to give the rioters space
to destroy property and after credible media reports
uncovered that gang members will target innocent
policeman for death, the head of the Baltimore City
Council issued yet another suck-up to the thugs who
are destroying the city.
The president of the Baltimore City Council
apologized for calling rioters thugs at a press
conference Tuesday, calling those responsible for the
violence misdirected youths.
Standing side-by-side with self-proclaimed gang
members, Jack Young said that gang members stood in
front of stores to prevent looting and retracted claims
that gang members were targeting the Baltimore police.

We are all Baltimoreans, Young said.
Almost 200 people were arrested during Monday
nights riots. At least 144 vehicles and 15 buildings were
burned, according to the mayors office. The notorious
Bloods and Crips have agreed to join together and
protest police.
