PRAGMATECH
PRAGMATECH  was established in 2009 as a wholly owned subsidiary of United Development Company (UDC), 
which  is  based  in  Doha,  Qatar.  In  line  with  UDC’s  strategy  of  supporting  innovations,  our  own  vision  of 
improving the Information Technology Milieu in the Middle‐East by introducing a world‐class player, and our 
mission  of  creating  a  world‐class  IT  solutions  provider  out  of  the  Middle‐East  servicing  clients  locally  and 
internationally,  PRAGMATECH’s  focus  from  the  start  was  on  creating  original  technologies  that  service 
international market needs – technologies that will have an impact on a global scale.  
 

INNOVATIVE IT SOLUTIONS AND RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

PRAGMATECH  is  one  of  the  first  IT  companies  in  the  MENA  region  with  a  specialized  Research  and 
Development  team  (all  of  whom  hold  graduate  degrees  in  computer  science)  working  round‐the‐clock  on 
finding solutions for very complex issues in the Computer Science field and the ways this science applies and 
supports other fields. One of these solutions is expected to be released early 2010 under the name ctrl: a 
text  processing  engine  that  uses  semantic  analysis  in  document  summarization  and  topic‐based  indexing, 
search  and  retrieval.  ctrl  allows  companies,  government  institutions,  and  others  to  take  control  of  one  of 
the most valuable assets of business today, namely, information, and in particular, textual information.  
 
PRAGMATECH also develops customized systems for clients in the MENA region. Within the first five months of 
its  operation,  Pragmatech  delivered  successfully  and  prior  to  due  dates  several  projects  with  highest 
standards and started the work on many others. PRAGMATECH has also secured a partnership with a UK‐based 
company – SnagR ‐ which provides PRAGMATECH with exclusive MENA‐wide rights to market, sell, and support 
the system that targets the construction industry. 
 
Having  started  in  2010  with  a  major  release  of  their  first  R&D  product,  ctrl,  the  future  looks  even  more 
promising for PRAGMATECH. 

OUR TEAM
At PRAGMATECH  we believe that, at  the end, behind every success story are unique individuals with special 
qualities. We are thus very selective in hiring potential talent, and in particular in senior positions. Members 
of our core team are experienced IT professionals with graduate degrees in computer science and extensive 
experience in Europe, Canada, the US and the Middle East, where they have held senior positions at places 
such  as  AT&T  Bell  Labs,  IBM,  Nortel  Networks,  the  American  Institutes  for  Research,  Cognos,  Inc.  and 
MetLife.  
 
Several of our core team members are also published authors with award winning research that appeared in 
several international journals and the proceedings of international conferences.
