The subject is to enable the student to understand the process system
dynamic for the solution of control engineering problems.

Course Learning Outcome (CLO)


Upon the completion of this course, students will be able to:
CLO1: Formulate the transfer function of a chemical engineering
process by using Laplace transformation tools. (C5, PLO2)
CLO2: Evaluate the closed loop block diagram in Laplace domain. (C4,
PLO2)
CLO3: Analyze the stability of system by using Rouths test and Bode
criterion.

CLO4: Design a conventional controller for process control using
Classical methods (C5, PLO3, PLO5)
CLO5: Justify and present the best control performance for a control
system using MATLAB/ Simulink. (C6, A2, PLO 4, PLO5, PLO6)

The course has four assessment components as


described above.
Test: It consists of 3 questions with an approximately 20 minutes each.
The duration of the test will be 1 hour.
Mid-term: It will be conducted on week 7 of the semester. The midterm
exam will have 4 questions of approximately 30 minutes each. The
duration of the mid-term exam will be 2 hours.
Laboratory: The student will attend introductory classes on Simulink,
carry out assignments on simulation and submit project report based on
simulation works.
Final Exam: It will consist of 6 questions. Answer 5 out of the 6
questions. The exam is of 3 hours duration.
