Ph.D., FCAOT. Mary is a professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science at McMaster
University, Canada; holds the John and Margaret Lillie chair in Childhood Disability
Research; and is co-founder of CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability Research,
a multidisciplinary research centre at McMaster University. Marys research centres
on the development and validation of client-centred outcome measures, evaluation

of Occupational Therapists and has been elected to the American Occ upational Therapy Foundation Academy of
Research and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.

Lyle is programme director and founder of Life Skills Therapy Center in Tarlac City,
Philippines, and programme coordinator for education for the World Federation
of Occupational Therapists. His interests range from practice and research in
developmental disabilities, sensory integration and policy development, to
running marathons.

The Sato Lectureship award was established in honour of Professor Tsuyoshi Sato, a key instigator of the formation of the
Asia Pacific occupational therapy regional group (APOTRG) and the Asia Pacific Occupational Therapy Congress (APOTC).
The award aims to stimulate interest in the development and advancement of occupational therapy, particularly in the
Asia-Pacific region; and to inspire members of the profession through the sharing of knowledge and experience in research,
education and the practice of occupational therapy. Dr Lyle Duque is the 3rd recipient of the award since its inception.

KEYNOTE ADDRESS: CREATIVE PARTNERSHIPS WITH CONSUMERS & COLLEAGUES - PROFESSOR SAMSON TSE, Ph.D.
Samson is the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Education) at the Faculty of Social
Sciences and the Director of the Master of Social Sciences in Counselling at the
Department of Social Work and Social Administration at the University of Hong Kong.
Prior to his relocation to Hong Kong, Samson worked in New Zealand for 20 years.
He has had a long standing interest in supporting persons individually or doing well
collectively affected by bipolar disorder and gambling addiction by using recovery
approach and strengths-based interventions.

Doing well together such as working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams is a hallmark of Samsons work.
He has authored/co-authored over 110 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in the field of mental health.
Between 2000 - 2006, he was appointed as editor-in-charge of the New Zealand Journal of Occupational Therapy.
Samson holds honorary/ visiting professorial positions at Yale University, University of Melbourne and University
of Auckland.

Dinner will be held at the Blue Baths a heritage listed bathhouse built in 1933 and located in
Rotoruas sumptuous Government Gardens. Stylishly refurbished in the 1930s era, the Blue Baths
provides fantastic ambience for this key congress social event.
Dinner will be served with live musical accompaniment in the Lido Room in the sophisticated style
of a Gatsby-themed party with gallons of glitz and glamour. After dinner well roll back the carpets

KEYNOTE ADDRESS: FRANCES RUTHERFORD LECTURE - 2015 RECIPIENT DR KIRK REED, Ph.D., DHSc, NZROT
Senior lecturer, department of occupational science and therapy at Auckland University of Technology (AUT); director of the National Centre of Interprofessional Education
and Collaborative Practice; chairperson of Unitec research ethics committee. Kirk was
head of department of occupational science and therapy at AUT from 2006 - 2014.
His achievements during that time include completing his doctoral thesis exploring
the meaning of occupation, and leading research into embedding an occupational
perspective in practice. His future contributions to knowledge development will focus
on occupational therapy in mental health and primary health care.
