JOINT STATEMENT ON THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION IN KENYA

His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta today held discussions with UK High
Commissioner Christian Turner, Swiss Ambassador Jacques Pitteloud and
officials of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

All parties agreed on the continued importance of tackling corruption in order

to attract investment, tackle insecurity, and to ensure that the benefits of
economic growth are shared amongst all Kenyans.

President Kenyatta stressed once more that attempts to derail the anticorruption campaign would not succeed.

The High Commissioner of the United Kingdom and the Ambassador of

Switzerland, on behalf of their respective governments, welcomed the recent
statements and actions of Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on the longstanding problem of corruption and acknowledged the recent steps of the
Kenyan government, notably the charges and arrests in the Anglo Leasing
scandal and the moves to address the institutional capacity constraints of the
EACC.

They pledged their continued support for the President, Government of Kenya
and EACC in these efforts, and committed to sustain vital assistance that would
ensure that the perpetrators of corruption are held to account and brought to
justice.
