Outline
This unit begins with the introduction the concept of equilibrium and its importance to industry [the Haber Process and the Contact Process] and the world economy.
These industrial processes enable vital chemicals such as ammonia and sulfuric acid to be produced, which are needed for the production of fertilisers and other
important industrial chemicals. This unit sets the scene for a consideration of how socioeconomic and environmental factors are important in choosing a site for an
industrial process. There are numerous opportunities to link to Units already covered. This unit is cross-referenced to assessment objectives A15, B16, C13 and
Unit 5.
