This egg cozy is modeled after the discription of the Death of Rats, a character from the Terry Pratchett
Discworld novels. He is made in rounds Amigurumi style. Have fun making him!
Youll need: - aprox. 25 grams worsted or aran weight black yarn
- aprox. 15 grams of worsted or aran weight white yarn
- 4.0mm/G crochet hook, yarn needle, sewing needle
- small piece of black felt for the eyes
- 2 blue beads to make the sparkle in his eyes
- small amount of polyfill or wool roving
- a stick, some craft foam, glue and silver paint to make his scythe (or anything else you can
make to look like a scythe).

Sleeves

Rnd 5: (sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st) 2x - 8 st.
Rnd 6: sc in each st - 8 st.
Rnd 7: (sc in next 3 st, 2 sc in next st) 2x - 10 st.
Rnd 8: (sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st) 2x - 14 st.
Work in end
Hands
Chain 14 st
Fold in a M scape and sc through the 3 ends. Finish off with slst
Sew in the sleeves with some black tread
Scythe
Roughly cut out a double scythe shape (mirrored) from a piece of craft foam (ca. 1 mm thick). Glue it
tightly around the top of the stick. After drying you can refine the shape with some fine scissors or a craft
knife. Paint the foam with the silver paint (acrylic). I've used two coats for a better coverage. Let dry.
Finish off
Cut out two circles of black felt for the eyes and blanket stitch to the head. Sew the blue beads in the
middle of the eyes. Place the head in the hood and fasten the hood with a few stitches. Attach the head
and hood to the top of the body. Sew through all layers. Fasten the sleeves on both sides of the body.
Place the scythe in his hand and fasten it at the sleeve end and the bottom of the body.
