Promotion Requet mail - not informative

Hi All,

I'm prett new to Windchill ut I have coured the PDM Uer' Guide, uine
Admin Guide, and Stem Admin Guide, and I cannot find an wa to make the
email notification for a promotion requet more... dnamic. That i, wh the heck
doen't the decription for the promotion requet get ent in the email
notification? The generic meage entered under the "activit ta" of a workflow
proce i le than helpful. You would think that the promotion requet
decription would e included in the notification email - thi wa ou can ee jut
from the email where that fall on our priorit lit.

I there a method to doing thi OOT? If not, doe anone have an

recommendation on where to look to find code that might help?

Thank ver much for our repone. I there an form of tet environment
uch that I can modif our current Promotion Approval Requet workflow
proce without dirupting the whole tem?

The reaon I ak i that it eem that it would e infinitel eaier to ue a

tet/demo environment than creating a whole new environment (Not onl am I
concerned with reaking the current operational environment, I'd like to
prevent pamming management when I tart teting approval).

M impreion regarding etting up thi tem in a wa that I can e free to

tet without reaking the tem that i currentl in place i to create a new
verion of each: workflow, lifeccle, team, context, promotion preference, etc.
I that accurate? Thi i wh I ak aout a tet environment. If thi in't
accurate, could ou pleae point me in the right direction?

We plaed with thi relativel extenivel. It work ver well for email root,
ut o far it doe not eem that there i an wa to affect the canned email text
that reult from electing the Notification checkmark for Activitie and thi i
where the real need i.

Forgive m ignorance ut I have een looking through the variou guide

and it eem to me that it hould e poile cutomize the promotion
proce workflow uch that a uer-definale variale i ued where the
owner define the variale (in a text ox or omething like that) which then
fire a notification root diplaing the variale which, in thi cae, i a
tring of text created the owner.

I got prett excited when firt learning of thi capailit - ut realized prett
quickl that it onl applied (at the time - proal till ame) to email ent
from notification root, not for email ent with Tak. Pleae advie if thi
ha changed ince 10.0 F000.

I'm not ure which cla or template ou're looking at, ut from what I rememer,
much of the notification tuff i hardcoded, and not even extendale through the
ue of a ervice, and there in't much availale through the template. Sometime,
ou can extend a ervice and add or override method to e ued a template,
ut I've found it ea to not ue ome of the OOT notification option, and jut add

I wa reall referring to uing the WC Cutomizer' guide in conjunction to the

Promotion Requet template to omehow ave uer-definale text a a
