The diameter of this structure is six meters and the maximum depth is thirty
meters. They are also popularly known as monopole turbines.
Gravity Base Structures
The minimum depth is twenty meters. However, the maximum is eighty meters.
Tripod Piled Structure
This structure too is from twenty to eighty meters.
Conventional Steel Jacket Structures
These structures can be used for twenty to eighty meters deep too.They are
mainly used by the oil and gas companies.
Floating Wind Turbines
These are meant for water bodies whose depth is more than eighty meters.
The glitch while using Offshore Wind Power
Though, the energy production is higher in these farms, on Shore turbines are
more accessible as compared to off shore ones. This also hints to the fact that
reliability becomes one of the major concerns while using these turbines.
Accessibility is only through a helicopter or a vessel. However, there are some
offshore turbines that also have places to live such as quarters on the site of the
farms for minimal maintenance needs.
