Here are my tips for math exam And i am a student like you only so I can also be wrong

Recommended books : H.K Dass or V.P Mishra I would personally suggest to go with V.P
Mishra as it is tailor made for IPU.

For those who are reading this before sessionals then here is my advice
solve all examples from VP Mishra (if u want moderate score)
for more go for exercise as well...doing examples will fetch you around
70-80..... by cosmos

you cannot study

maths in one night like other subjects .
( But there
Try to be regular in maths that is the most important point

are still people like me who do it that way

Never take sessionals as fun

Sessionals are very important

as if you score below 10 then it gets difficult to get above 40 marks

in exam. Try to score atleast 15 in internal.
Try to score atleast more than 20 in both paper out of 30 in sessionals(i would say get above 20

marks in internal Dont worry if you less than that as i also didnt get that much
as without those 15 marks
in internal it becomes very difficult to pass overall .

ALWAYS PRACTICE PREVIOUS

Many times questions get repeated.

One golden tip for exam for sessionals

YEAR PAPERS

I would suggest you to buy Bhavya or Akash previous year papers ( i perfer
bhavya ) for all subjects as they are really helpful in telling what is the pattern
forthe paper and what all we can expect in exam. one more thing please please
dont rely on their answers cause many are even wrong or not done the correct
way.

This is how i prepared for maths which was the most difficult subject for me in 1st semster
I have given the topics according to how i find them useful and you can always study in your own
way if have any better or easy way
1- Always start your preparation with

Matrix CH-8 (2*6+3=15 marks )

This is the easiest chapter and you can get marks with very less study .

2-Do

Infinite series Ch-2 This chapter is also easy and you get a 6 marks

question for

sure and sometime 3 marks questions also come from this topic so 9 marks for very less effort
3-

Differential equations Ch-9 and Ch-10 Its not a easy chapter but it

has a lot of weightage (2*6+3=15 marks)

4-Successive differention and macluarin's and Taylor expansion

Ch-3

5-

Complex number Ch-1

6-

Curve tracing and asymptotes Ch-4 (6+3=9marks)

7-Application

(1*6+3=9 Marks)

of Integral

8-Reduction formula

do solved examples first...

sometimes direct solved examples come in exams...
and read previous years question papers ( a must ) by DPSC

Now for those who want just to

pass
TRY TO ATTEMPT QUESTIONS FROM PREVIOUS
YEAR PAPERS
Follow step No 1 to 3 seriously and do any two chapters which you find easy
if you study theese chapters seriously then you will be able to pass.

Important topics

in various chapters

Matrix =
Finding rank(if you have trouble finding rank then convert matrix into upper triangular matrix and
count the number of non zero rows )
Finding eigen vectors and eigen values
Consistentcy of linear equation
Inverse of matrix by elementary row transformation
Caley hamilton theoram
Normal form and finding P and Q
Spectral matrix diagonal matrix modal matrix

Differential equation LEAVE APPLICATION OF D.E in both the chapters

variation of parameter Ch-10
Simulatenous Linear Equation Ch -10
these two mostly questions come in 6 marks as they require you to know how to find C.F and P.I .
exact differential equation Ch-9 and its all rules to convert in to exact D.E
homogenous and linear differential equation Ch-9
Finding Complementary function all 3 cases are important especially the 3 case
Particular Integral do all the cases all are important

Now try to cover topic that are left if you still have time and stamina left

to be continued:will post more if people actually need it

i have taken tips from others also so i will be mentioning their names where ever needed
Some general tips

NEVER FORGET TO TAKE A

CALCULATOR WITH YOU as it
saves precious time during exam.
i have Casio 991MS it can find inverse of a matrix solve linear equations
it will also help you in ITC as it has binary octal hex conversion also .

USE

BLACK BALL PEN FOR DARKENING THE OMR ( The first sheet of the paper where

you need to provide your details)

NEVER DO ROUGH WORK ON PAPER as they will waste

your time if they catch you
and please apne bags or mobile phone kisi safe jagah rakhwana...
take both Blue and Black pen with you.. Both are compulsory.. by rzr1911

Incase you forget to take your admit card then Don't Panic ,Tell the teacher that you dont have the
admit card in advance so you dont have to waste your time later , you will be asked to filled a
affidavit and be allowed to write the exam.

AND PLEASE DONT FORGET

TO RATE THE THREAD IF
YOU FIND IT USEFUL
