Malaysia (UPM) to organize a training program for the Facultys staffs.

and Management of Training), Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM to be
held in collaboration with the Faculty of Human Ecology, UPM.

2.

BACKGROUND
Globalization is an era where it requires people to be more updated with
the dynamic changes and development. In order for an organization to
stay competitive in todays world, it will have to go through the changing
phases to suit with the global movement. UPM is also exposed to
organizational change and development issues and currently moving
towards a lean organization which may transform the current working
environment into a new climate. Therefore, UPM will face the era of
business in no longer as usual and its workforce need to have a positive
attitude in responding to the current change and development.
Lean management is basically an approach to running an organization
that supports the concept of continuous improvement, a long-term
approach to work that systematically to achieve incremental changes in
process in order to improve efficiency and quality. Lean management is a
system where it moves the traditional way of managing organization to a
new practice. There is a lot of work need to be done at individual level as
well as management level before implementing lean organization.

Therefore, it is essential to have a lean attitude before having a lean

organization because the tool itself is not effective unless associated with
a right mindset.
To succeed in developing a positive attitude towards lean organization, it
is necessary for an organization to create a culture that encourages and
supports the short-term and long-term employees development. It should
be an ongoing process to ensure that employees are staying current, if
not one step ahead in their fields and mission-critical competencies.
Planning for employees continuous development must be anchored to
the organizational mission, goals and needs, otherwise the organization
would not be able to strive for its ultimate aims and objectives. Therefore,
the employees should also be exposed to current knowledge, skills and
attitudes in order for them to perform their tasks efficiently.
Individual development benefits the organization through aligning
employee training and development efforts with the mission, goals, and
objectives of the agency. To support the alignment process, DCE5230
students has come out with a customized program to match between the
organizational requirement and employees training needs. The program
entitled of Jom Bercinta is aiming at bringing more excellent working
spirit among the Facultys staff members. Besides, it also represents the
support from the Facultys management in developing the sense of love
towards their jobs so that they will continuously show their commitment
and strive for further organizational excellence.

going further with the rest of activities set for the whole program.
The participants will have to take part in activities or modes of
discussion used to help them ease into a group setting.

5.2

Talk 1 (Law of Universal Attraction)

The law of attraction refers to the belief that like attracts like and
that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, one can bring
about positive or negative results. This belief is based upon the
idea that people and their thoughts are both made from "pure
energy", and the belief that like energy attracts like energy. This
session will give opportunity for participants to understand about
the philosophy of being positive thinkers and further stimulate their
minds to release a positive aura and attract more success in their
lives. Besides, they can also learn to be energetic that enables
them to call upon power greater than their conscious mind.

5.3

Group Activity 2 (Love Your Job, Inspire Your Organization)

organization. Communication does matter to develop a healthy
working environment and it serves as a foundation for planning and
organizing, promoting motivation and altering individuals attitudes
in workplace socialization. This group activity will require
participants to perform their specified roles in completing a given
task that provides opportunity for them to express opinion, share
ideas, negotiate propositions and make decisions for positive
impacts on organizations.

5.4

An element for a good mindset is to positively manage the
unexpected problematic situation and in a variety of context. This
group activity will include series of games where the participants
will learn about orienting and defining problems before coming out
with its solutions. By having this activity, the participants can train
their mind with the foundation skills needed to solve problem and

increase their general problem solving ability, regardless whether

the proble at work, at home, or somewhere in between.
5.5

pondering over it, learning from it and using the new knowledge to
help participants in future similar situations. This session will reflect
