2. Presentation: Today, you will learn about the feeding relationships of organisms in an
ecosystem.
3. Activity/Discussion
a. Read data/information about food chain.
b. Discuss with the pupils important concepts to the data given to the pupils
c. Let the pupils answer exercises in the activity sheets
d. Check and discuss the answers to the exercises given
4. Generalization
Food Chain is consists of a series of animals that eat plants and other animals. It
shows the energy
flow from one organism to another through the process of eating and being eaten. It
starts with a
producer to a series of consumers until the last organism in the chain dies acted
upon by bacteria in
the soil. The arrows show the direction of energy flow in a food chain.

Trophic Levels:
The trophic level of an organism is the position it holds in a food chain.
1. Primary producers (organisms that make their own food from sunlight and/or
chemical energy
from deep sea vents) are the base of every food chain
2. Primary consumers are animals that eat primary producers; they are also called
herbivores
(plant-eaters).
3. Secondary consumers eat primary consumers. They are carnivores (meat-eaters)
and omnivores
(animals that eat both animals and plants)
4. Tertiary consumers eat secondary consumers.
5. Quarternary consumers eat tertiary consumers.
6. Application
Give five examples of food chains. Write your answers in your science notebook.
5. Evaluation
Illustrate and show the feeding relationship of the following animals in your
science notebook.
Algae
bird
crocodile
decomposer
small fish
IV. Assignment
Be ready for a long test on Tuesday about lessons taken up.
