This week your child is learning about the


main idea and the dteails in a story. As you
read stories with your child, discuss with him
or her what the story was mainly about.

Give your child this list of spelling words: nap,


naps, sit, sits, win, wins, fit, fits, hit, hits. Make
up a sentence for one word, but say beep for
the spelling word. Have your child identify the
word for the beep space and then spell it.

Write these words and have your child read


them: eat, four, five, her, this, too. Have your
child choose a word, read it aloud, and trace
over each letter.

Write each of the following words on an index


card: they, I, she, he, we, is, are, the, fox, cat,
play, plays, playing, eat, eats, eating. Take
turns making sentences using as many of the
words as possible.

Write each of the following words on an index


card: nap, sit, win, fit, hit. Write s on another
card. Have your child read a word to you. Place
the s on the end of the word. Have your child
read the new word.
