MAGNESUIM, POTASSIUM AND CALCUIM TEST

Potassium testing is frequently ordered, along with other electrolytes, as part of a
routine physical. It is used to detect concentrations that are too high (hyperkalemia) or too low
(hypokalemia). Magnesium test is used to measure the level of magnesium in the blood.
Abnormal levels of magnesium are most frequently seen in conditions or diseases that cause
impaired or excessive excretion of magnesium by the kidneys or that cause impaired absorption
in the intestines. A blood calcium test is ordered to screen for, diagnose, and monitor a range of
conditions relating to the bones, heart, nerves, kidneys, and teeth.

CHEST X-RAY (CHEST RADIOGRAPHY)

CK-MB is usually ordered along with total CK in persons with chest pain to determine
whether the pain is due to a heart attack. It may also be ordered in a person with a high CK to
determine whether damage is to the heart or other muscles.

DATE REQUESTED: November 20, 2012

SPECIMEN: SERUM

The chest x-ray is the most commonly performed diagnostic x-ray examination. A
chest x-ray makes images of the heart, lungs, airways, blood vessels and the bones of the spine
and chest.

Creatinine blood test

Urine metanephrines test
Creatinine is a breakdown product of creatine, which is an important part of
muscle. Creatinine blood test is to assess kidney function.

Urine metanephrines testing is primarily used to help detect and rule

out pheochromocytomas in symptomatic people. It may also be ordered to help monitor the
effectiveness of treatment when a pheochromocytoma is removed to monitor for recurrence.

Abdominal CT scan
An abdominal CT scan is an imaging method that uses x-rays to create crosssectional pictures of the belly area.

24 Hour Urine Creatinine

This test measures creatinine (a product of protein breakdown) in urine. It is used to
determine glomerular filtration rate, which helps to measure how well the kidney functions.

DATE REQUESTED: 11/06/12

Findings:
The liver is normal size and shape. The density of the parenchyma is within normal. No mass or dilated
intrahepatic ducts appreciated.
The pancreas is normal in size and configuration. There is no dilation of the pancreatic duct. No mass
demonstrated in the parenchyma.
The spleen and adrenal glands are unremarkable.
No mass noted.
Kidneys are normal in size and show good excretory functions. No mass or hydronephrosis seen. Urinary
collecting structures and urinary bladder are not unusual. There is a subcentimeter cyst in the right lower pole
cortex.
There are no enlarged intra-abdominal or retroperitoneal lymph nodes. Vascular structures are intact.
Omentum and mesentery appear normal.
No abnormality observed in the visualized stomach and intestines.
Stomach and bowel loops are not unusual.
Rest of the soft tissue and osseous structures are unremarkable.

Conclusion:
Small right renal cortical cyst
Negative for adrenal mass
