The history of Christianity has roots in ancient times, including thousands of years
before the birth of Jesus Christ. Unlike many ancient religions and theologies which
came into prominence and then died out, Christianity has survived into the modern
era. It is currently the world's largest religion with more than 2.5 billion followers. It
began in what today is called the Middle East and, sometimes slowly and sometimes
rapidly, spread to all the world's seven continents. Whether one is Christian or not,
it is undoubtedly one of the most interesting histories to study. All are welcome to

This class is a continuation of the winter/spring semester TOEFL IBT test preparation
class. Individual student needs and concerns will first be assessed to determine
which test areas will be emphasized. More than likely a great amount of time will be
spent on simulated speaking tests. Whether students have taken the test and want
to improve their score, or plan to take the test for the first time, the class will help
prepare them to maximize their results. Students must commit to faithful class
attendance as their share of the teacher-student partnership.

A great way to improve your English conversation is to practice listening to and speaking with
people from American society and culture. To accomplish this in an interesting way and to
give students a wide exposure to many different English speakers, this class brings in a new
English-speaking expert each week. They start with a presentation about their field of
expertise and then International students engage them in questions, discussion and
comparison with their own culture.

This class builds International students' English abilities to describe, develop questions, do
interviews and increase fluency. Students learn that English conversation can be successfully
used and remembered during their stay in U.S.. Vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar,
listening and speaking are emphasized in a fun, rewarding and confidence-building way. A
variety of teaching techniques and situation are used to increase English proficiency. Teacher
Ken is a professional ESL teacher when not volunteering at Friendship House MSU.

cultures over the course of nearly 2000 years. It includes historical accounts, poetry, legal
documents, personal letters and prophetic visions. This study -- following Bible Study 101

is an excellent way to improve their English vocabulary, comprehension and practice.
Newspapers, cable news, online news websites and blogs, and magazines are shown to help
