Credit Tips
1. If you want to establish credit in the United States you need to make payments on time or even better, make your
payments before the due date to services such as: electric, water, home phone, cable television, school loans,
mobile phone, any type of bill that you receive monthly. These bills must be in your name and social security
number.
2. To obtain your first credit card, apply for one at your bank. Ask for a Security Credit Card. You will have to make a
security deposit of $250 into a savings account in your name. This deposit will be return to you after a year as long
as you made your payments on time.
3. Store credit cards are also a way to establish credit however you would have to use up to 35% of your credit limit to
obtain a good score. You can also ask for a increase in your credit limit to be able to keep utilizing the 35% of your
limit.
4. When buying a vehicle even if you are able to pay cash take out a loan, give a down payment and make monthly
payments. Make sure the loan is under your name and social security number.
5. A credit score is a numerical expression based on a statistical analysis of a person's credit files, to represent the
creditworthiness of that person. A credit score is primarily based on credit report information, typically sourced from
credit bureaus.
6. Use a checking account to make your payments because financial entities are the ones that certify your economic
capability and timely payments.
7. Once you have two lines of credit (car loan and credit card) with a minimum credit limit of $5.000 for a year, you will
be able to apply for a home loan or mortgage.

Traffic Violation
What to do if you Get a Traffic Ticket in Florida
You are required to satisfy your traffic citation within thirty (30) calendar days. Your options may depend on your driving
record but if your drivers license is in good standing typical options are as follows:
Elect traffic school option
Pay the civil penalty
Request a court appearance
Traffic School Option
The benefits of electing the traffic school option in Florida are that your auto insurance cannot go up and your policy
cannot be cancelled. If you complete a state approved traffic school course and submit your certificate of completion to
the clerk of court in the county where you received the ticket by their specified deadline adjudication is withheld, which
means you are not deemed guilty and you received no points.
Note that when you select traffic school your fine will be reduced - this will vary by county see the chart below.
Florida Approved Traffic Schools
123Driving.com offers Florida DMV approved traffic school online
Another option is to look in your local yellow pages under traffic school or driving instruction
State of Florida Policy for Electing Traffic School
Florida Statute 626.9541(1)(o) 12 States: "No insurer shall impose or request an additional premium, cancel a policy, or
issue a non renewal notice on any insurance policy or contract because of any traffic infraction when adjudication of guilt
is withheld and no points have been accessed pursuant to s.318.14(9) and (10). However, this subparagraph does not
apply to traffic infractions involving accidents in which the insurer has incurred a loss due to the fault of the insured."
Pay the Civil Penalty
If you pay the full fine points will be applied against your drivers license when applicable and your auto insurance rates
may go up or your policy may be cancelled.
Request a Court Appearance
If you elect the option to request a court appearance for the violation(s) and it is determined that an infraction has been
committed, the Court may adjudicate you guilty, assess points, impose a civil penalty not to exceed $500 ($1000 for
violations involving a death or speeding in school/construction zones) or require you to attend traffic school, or all of the
above. Additionally, your insurance rates may go up or your policy may be cancelled.
If you speed in a school zone or construction zone your fine can be doubled.

Contact a reentry program and/or an employment program and make reason for
contact clear and precise.
Employers can benefit financially from the Federal Work Tax-Credit program by hiring
an ex-offender.
Employers can benefit from the Federal Bonding Program which provides them with
insurance for hiring an ex-offender.
In general, ex-offenders are employees who are just as reliable as non ex-offenders.
They follow instructions well and are timely employees.
Many ex-offenders are job ready and have acquired skills (such as certificates) while
incarcerated. As a result, employers can benefit from their skills.
If the ex-offender is under community supervision, employers will have a direct point
of contact and resource for their company which may assist them with job retention.
Additionally, the employer is made aware that their employee (ex-offender) is drug
tested and that he/she must maintain employment as a condition of supervision.
These aspects, of the ex-offender, may increase work productivity and reliability.
Once an ex-offender becomes employed, he/she becomes a tax paying citizen and a
contributor to the community.
The ex-offender is given a second chance, which results in a successful transition into family,
culture, community and self.
Many ex-offenders have received training specifically designed to assist and meet
the needs of employability and job placement. In turn, employers save time and
money for training.
