Pier 1
At Pier 1, the vessel must berth enough ballast to allow loading operations immediately after berthing.
Deballasting must be started after authorization from the Foreman and performed as the vessel is being
loaded, at a rate that allows the loading compatible with the air draft limit of 22.40 m.
It is built of reinforced concrete, and supported by metal sheathed concrete piles, of lost mold type,
distributed as follows:
. Four berthing dolphins (4,5,6 and 7);
. Six mooring dolphins (1,2,3,8,9 and 10);
. Linear type ship loader;
. Tug boat pier;
. Access bridge, service road and walkways.
Pier 1 has a linear ship loader with the following specifications:
. Loading capacity 16,000 t/h
. Conveyor belt width 2,200mm
. Maximum reach beyond the docking line 46.30m
. Transverse travel 244.00m
. Slewing angle (to each side) 47
. Vertical inclination angle +21 and -22
. Maximum air draft 22.40m
. Maximum draft alongside 23 m

Pier 2
Pier 2 is located south of Ponta da Madeira. It is built in a north-northeast direction and planned to handle
vessels with a maximum of 155.000 DWT.
The structure of the pier is a reinforced concrete platform 280m long and 24.8m wide, supported by
sheathed concrete piles of mold type. There is a mooring dolphin on the northern side, 26 meters away from
the platform and set back from to the docking alignment. The ship loader rolling track is installed on the
platform.
The minimum depth along the docking line is 18,00m (59.0 ft).
The vessel must berth with enough ballast to allow the loading operations immediately after berthing.

loaded, at a rate that allows the loading compatible with the air draft limit of 18,00 m (Pig-Iron/Iron ore) 15,00 m (Soya Beans).
LOADING RATE:
Pier 2 has one linear type ship loader with the following specifications:
Loading capacity 8,000t/h for iron ore/manganese ore
. 2.000-2.500 t/h for Soya Beans
. 1.200 t/h for Copper
. 1.000 t/h for Pig Iron

If the number of lines or preferably steel cables aboard is insufficient, or if its cables and winches are in bad
condition or if the crew is not able to moor according to the recommendations, additional safety actions will
be taken by the Port Operation authorities, such as:
a) Keeping the tug boats on stand by;
b) Keep the tug boats pushing alongside;
c) Stoppage of loading;
d) Keep the pilot on board;
e) Unberthing the vessel;
The costs resulting from these additional safety actions and time lost shall be for MASTER/SHIPOWNER 'S
ACCOUNT.
Vessel requirement in case vessel is equipped with gears:
A. MINIMUM DISTANCE BETWEEN FORWARD CRANE AND FORWARD MAST 25 M
B. MINIMUM DISTANCE BETWEEN AFTERMOST CRANE AND SUPERSTRUCTURE 25 M
C. MINIMUM DISTANCE BETWEEN CRANE 25 M
D. MINIMUM HATCH DIMENSIONS 15 M X 15 M
