The U.S. cash market was slightly firmer today with offers increasing with the futures market
while bids stayed flat, and as a result there were little to no trades to report.Analysts note that
bids from mills continue to outpace bids on the river as export demand remains tepid with buyers
remaining hand to mouth throughout the entire marketing year.
India rice sellers increased their quotes for 25% broken rice and 100% broken rice by about $5
per ton each to around $350-$360 per ton and $280-$290 per ton respectively today. Pakistan
rice sellers lowered most of their quotes by about $5-$10 per ton. Vietnam rice sellers kept their
quotes mostly unchanged today. Thailand rice sellers are out today due to a public holiday.
5% Broken Rice
Thailand 5% rice was last indicated at around $365 - $375 per ton, about a $15 per ton premium
on Vietnam 5% rice shown at around $350 - $360 per ton. India 5% rice is indicated at around
$370 - $380 per ton, about a $25 per ton discount to Pakistan 5% rice shown at around $395 $405 per ton, down about a $10 per ton from Friday.
25% Broken Rice
Thailand 25% rice was last shown at around $350 - $360 per ton, about a $25 per ton premium
on Vietnam 25% rice shown at around $325- $335 per ton. India 25% rice is indicated at around

Vietnam has increased the floor price (minimum export price, MEP) of its lower quality (25%
broken) rice exports by about 3% to around $350 per ton from around $340 per ton ahead of the
Philippines tender on June 5, 2015, according to Reuters.The new MEP will reportedly be
effective from June 1, 2015. "This is a short-term floor as Vietnam prepares for the rice tender in
the Philippines," a trader was quoted as saying.The Philippines National Food Authority (NFA)
has called for tenders from Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia for the 250,000 tons 25% broken
well-milled long-grain rice, with delivery expected between July and August, to replenish stocks
during the lean season (July - September) as well as prevent commercial rice price hikes.

The South-East Asian nation lowered the floor price of the 25% broken rice exports to $340 per
ton from $350 per ton on April 28, 2015 due to subdued demand from importers.Vietnam
exported 2.52 million tons of rice in the first five months of 2015, down about 7.4% from last
year, according to government data.

to data from the Vietnam Food Association (VFA). Average rice export price so far in this year
stands at around $419 per ton (FOB), down about 3% per ton from around $433 per ton recorded
during same last year.During May 1-25, 2015, Vietnam exported around 319,513 tons of rice,
down about 45% from around 585,536 tons rice exported in full month of May 2014, and down
about 51% from around 650,507 tons rice exported in full month of April 2015. Average export
prices so far in May stands at around $418 per ton, down about 2% per ton from a year ago, and
up about 1% per ton from a month ago.
