CENTRIFUGAL PUMP SPECIFICATIONS

1: SCOPE
To define the requirements for centrifugal pumps of the horizontal or in-line type. This standard, together with driver specifications, covers the
requirements for design of the centrifugal pump.
2: GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
2.1 Pumps shall be Durco Mark III design as manufactured by Flowserve Corporation / The Duriron Company, Dayton Ohio.
2.2 Specific performance characteristics of the fluid are to be provided by customer. Vendor should be able to plot specific performance curves
based on the specific properties of the fluid pumped.
2.3 Assemblies shall be furnished complete with pump, driver, coupling, and OSHA guard, mounted on a common baseplate with all required
auxiliaries.
2.4 Coupling shall be a spacer type coupling of customer preference. Coupling guards shall be yellow in color. Polycarbonate "splash guards"
shall be an option to prevent fluid spray from a malfunctioning seal.
2.5 Mechanical seal is to be installed by vendor and hydrostatically tested with water or air for a minimum of five minutes to test for any leakage
prior to shipment.
2.6 Impeller shall be reverse vane design. The primary wear surface shall be the rear cover. No wear rings shall be required.
2.7 Impeller clearance shall be set to the rear cover by a micrometer dial adjustment located externally at the bearing housing.
2.8 Impellers shall be threaded to the shaft. Impellers are to be dynamically balanced at 3500 RPM to a quality grade of G6.
2.9 Metallurgy shall be of the most recent ASTM 744 specifications and conform to the chemical and mechanical requirements of ASTM 744
specifications.
2.10 Rear cover shall be available in a choice of five styles. Both oversized and standard bore sizes shall have an option for flow modifier (speed
bump) arrangements.
2.11 Bearings shall be oil bath type with a reflective sight glass for level indication. Oil Seals shall be double lip both inboard and outboard.
Optional bearing isolators shall be available.
2.12 Bearings shall be single row radial and double row thrust. Bearings shall have less than .001" of endplay.
2.12 Baseplate shall be of carbon steel, polycrete, or stainless steel material. Dimensions shall conform to ANSI B73.1-M1991 standard.
2.13 Assembly to be laser aligned to .005" Maximum. Motor centering nuts shall be used to allow for adequate clearance around motor
fasteners. Motor adjusters shall be available as an option.
2.14 Motor driver horsepower rating shall be sized for run-out at the maximum required for the bid impeller. Motor enclosure shall be EPAct
compliant with the Energy Policy Act of 1992. The efficiency levels to be met are those in NEMA MG1-1993.
2.15 Pump shall be identified by a stainless steel equipment tag. The tag shall have pump model and size, customer equipment number, serial
number, capacity, head, RPM, materials of construction, and year of manufacture.
3: SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Mechanical seal is to be of customer preference. Materials shall be selected depending on the application, seal manufacturers
recommendation, and customer preferences. Both single and double seals shall be accommodated. Stuffing box shall be specified as either
standard or oversize bore, with or without flow modifiers.
3.2 If required, Single seal shall be equipped with a by-pass-flush arrangement leading from the pump discharge to the appropriate connection
on the stuffing box. The by-pass-flush shall be constructed of Teflon tubing with a stainless steel shroud. All fitting shall be stainless steel
construction or higher alloy if required.
3.3 If required, mechanical seal tanks shall be mounted on a permanent fixture attached to the baseplate. Seal tank shall be of 2-gallon
minimum size. Tank shall be mounted a minimum of 18" above the centerline of the pump.
