In previous lesson during their
Social Studies class, students
have collected Civil War facts from
our nonfiction informational books
and World Book Online. At that
time, each student found at least
ten civil war facts which were
written on color coded index
cards. Students cited sources
used.
Students will listen to the reading
of Pink and Say by LMS.
Students will view illustrations
from the book as large screen
displays.

LMS will stop periodically to make


parallels with historical facts
associated with the Civil War using
the information from the Social
Studies lesson
LMS will ask varying types of
questions as formative
assessments of student
understanding.
Students will work together in
high/low pairings.
Students will complete Venn
diagram comparing the physical
and character traits of Pinkus and
Sheldon using evidence from the
book.
