contexts,specificallythesharingeconomy.Thereismuchwrittenaboutthesharingeconomyandhow
itsthenextbigthing.Butwehaveheardallthisbefore.Thatisbecauseeachnewkindofventure
bringswithauniquesetofproblems,suchas,forexampleforUber,legalissuesandalsoprivacyand
securityconcerns.
Howdotheopportunitiesandthreatsbalanceout?Whichwaywillthependulumswing?
Onewaytodecideistofirstlookattheconceptandevaluateitsoverallmeritandwhetherissoundand
logicallyconsistent.Thismeansusingtheoriesandframeworks.Suchanassessmentwilltellusofthe
real,fundamentalvalueoftheconcept.
Thenwelookatimplementationissues.Ifthesearetractable,thentheconcepthasthepotentialtogain
tractionifdoneright.
Iftheconceptfundamentallyisflawed,thennomatterhowgoodthepeopleandthemarket,itwillnotbe
sustainableinthelongrun.Andiftheimplementationissuesprovetobeintractable,thenperhapsthe
ideaisaheadofitstime.
