Fan unit version H with dust filter

Introduction
This document describes the fan unit version H with dust filter.

Features and Application Notes

The AFAN-H unit provides the following features:

Provides forced air cooling in a 7302 Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) FD

subrack or a 7360 ISAM FX-16 subrack.

Contains eight fixed-speed fans
Is mounted in the subrack fan area
Supported nominal voltages: -48Vdc
Contains a fan unit control board, which provides an alarm interface to the NT board
via the backplane
Is secured to the subrack by screws
Is field-replaceable and can be hot inserted
Is connected to the subrack backplane via two 15-pin male Sub-D connectors.
Equipped with dust filter (code 1AD014270005), for use in CO environment. This
dust filter must be removed when the shelf is used in closed (cabinet-like)
environments where such a filter is not applicable and where higher ambient
temperatures (higher than 45C) are expected.
Is available in two versions:

Metal version: 3EC 37533 NBAA

Plastic version: 3EC 37533 NBAC

Fan Unit (with Dust Filter)

The AFAN-H must be mounted in the fan area of the subrack.

When there is a malfunction of a fan blower, the fan alarm LED will turn red. Under
normal operating conditions, the fan alarm LED is not illuminated.
To prevent damage or system shutdown caused by overheating equipment following
precautions must be taken (refer to the 7302 ISAM FD Hardware Installation manual or
the 7360 ISAM FX Hardware Installation manual for specific instructions).

The AFAN-H must always be properly installed and operational before powering any
equipment in the subrack.

The AFAN-H must never be put out of operation for a longer time than specified in
the 7302 ISAM FD Hardware Installation manual and the 7302 ISAM Safety Manual
or the 7360 ISAM FX Hardware Installation manual and the 7360 ISAM FX Safety
manual.

Fan Unit and Control Board

The fan unit alarm and control board provides the following functionality:

Provides fused power interface towards the different fans

Generates a common fan alarm output towards the NT boards (with integrated ACU
functionality) is case of fan failure
Provides for EMC/EMI filtering
The backpanel contains the connectors that plug into the subrack backpanel (see
Figures 6 and 7).
