1 ECC500 Overview
ECC500 Overview
1.1 Positioning
The ECC500 is a cross-platform monitoring product, in which a main control module works
with several expansion boards. The ECC500 monitors loads, power supplies, storage batteries,
environments, and the temperature control unit (TCU) to ensure system reliability and
operation security. It also schedules site energy as required, saving energy and reducing site
operating expense (OPEX).
Figure 1-1 ECC500
1.2 Benefits
Battery Management
The ECC500 manages the voltage of boost or floating charge, voltage adjustment,
temperature compensation and current limit coefficient based on the energy usage and
system status to ensure the proper running of storage batteries.
The ECC500 calculates remaining storage battery capacity, duration for battery charge
and discharge per day, and perform operations based on the calculation results.
The ECC500 locally and remotely manages intelligent components for energy and
environment monitoring, such as power supply unit (PSU).
The ECC500 identifies and stores electronic labels of intelligent southbound components
and its local electronic label.
The ECC500 controls the disconnection order of loads based on the subrack connected.
Issue 01 (2012-05-24)
ECC500(Telecom Power)
User Manual
1 ECC500 Overview
Supports load low voltage disconnection (LLVD) and battery low voltage disconnection
(BLVD).
Communication
The ECC500 reports site information including alarms, statistics, and current status to
northbound equipment over out-band transmission. It also receives control and
configuration information from northbound equipment and performs operations
accordingly such as opening or closing dry contacts or controlling southbound
equipment.
The ECC500 collects performance data, such as the generated energy of mains,
remaining battery electricity, and load power consumption, and stores the data every 5
minutes, per hour, per day, per month or per year.
The ECC500 locally stores, queries, and monitors southbound components and sensors.
The ECC500 exports historical data over the web user interface (WebUI) or Network
Ecosystem (NetEco).
User-friendly Interface
Running parameters of monitored equipment such as the alternating current (AC), direct
current (DC), battery status, and control parameters are displayed on the liquid crystal
display (LCD), WebUI or NetEco in real time.
Site setup and network connection parameters of the site and NetEco such as IP
addresses and access point names (APNs) can be set over the LCD to implement
laptop-free deployment.
TheLCD/WEB allows you to obtain real-time information, alarms, and statistics from
corresponding tab pages and send control commands.
Over the WebUI or NetEco, historical performance data can be exported, and the
ECC500 can be remotely upgraded.
Issue 01 (2012-05-24)
If a fault occurs, an alarm is generated and displayed on the LCD, WebUI, and NetEco.
If the ECC500 determines that an alarm is generated, it turns on the alarm indicator,
displays the alarm information on the LCD and WebUI, and reports the alarm to the
NetEco.
If the ECC500 determines that an alarm is cleared, it turns off the alarm indicator and
notifies the NetEco of the alarm clearance, and the alarm information on the LCD and
WebUI disappears.
A maximum of 500 active alarms can be displayed, 1000 historical alarms can be saved,
and cleared alarms can be queried on the LCD.

1 ECC500 Overview
Allows one or more alarms to be generated over the same dry contact output.
Log Management
The ECC500 records operation logs in detail, These logs can be viewed and downloaded over
the WebUI.

CAUTION
The Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) antenna connector is fastened to the
RF port on the GPRS module. The antenna is installed in an unshielded place to ensure that
signals are not shielded. If the GPRS antenna is more than 3 m (9.84 in.), lightning protection
must be considered.
If the mounting bracket of the GSM antenna has a plastic shell, remove it before installing the
GSM antenna to ensure that the magnet sticks to the unit.

If the GPRS function of the ECC500 is required, take out the GRPS module. Then insert the
SIM card. Figure 3-6 shows the installation and removal of the SIM card.
