EFFECTSOFPOLLUTION

Pollution a term often and commonly heard around the corners of mother earth.
Signs that read Stop Polluting, Save Earth or Pollution Kills we frequently see
written on the faces of boards being planted on the very soil by the roadside, but how
often do we stop to think about such pollution impacts us in our daily lives?
According to the Oxford dictionary of English Language, pollution brings the
meaning of the presence in or introduction into the environment of a substance which
has harmful or poisonous effects. The more common types of pollution range from
air, water and soil.
Firstly, I would like to share my views upon air pollution, commonly caused by
open-air burning. An aftermath caused by such is drastic not to mention harmful to
ones health. He or she may suffer from asthma attacks. Whats more, irritation to the
eyes, skin, and mouth for more severe haze cases. On the other hand, road-users will
be subjected to poor driving visibility. Haze cases has been and always be
environmental unfriendly towards greens and vegetation. In extreme cases, air
pollution is known to cause acidic rain which in turn will destroy plant leaves.
Moreover, had I not mention water pollution and what good can it do for our
environment? Thats right, NONE! Wildlife, flora, rainforests, not forgetting beings
are all dependent on mother natures liquid. The very main problem of water
pollution is that it kills aquamarine life. Dead sea creatures often wind up along
beaches only to be killed by pollutants in their habitat. This may lead to disruption of
the food chain. Sooner or later, we might face a huge problem of diseases as this
continues. Eventually humans would be affected from poor drinking water as a result
of contaminated waters.
Besides, with the advancement and the fast-paced world we live in, soil, greeneries
are often replaced by high-rise and roads. As a result, the soil pollution happens due to
the presence of man made elements. Polluted soil absorbed by crops and plants are
then passed on to us as we feed on them. Long term exposure to such will cost health
problems which may not be cured easily. Chemicals present in polluted soil will
decrease soil fertility which in turn will impact on greens grown upon. Thus, a
decrease in soil yield leading to shortage of food supplies.
Last but certainly not least, pollution of any kind amounts to nothing good. Mankind
should take a step back and look at the mess we made. Clearly, pollution have the
abilities to disrupt our daily lives thus we must reflect in our actions and come up with
a solution and fast before matters get out of hand.
