Fixit Newcoat work procedure


Areas of application: Cementitious roofs and terraces flat and sloping
Pre-application -Checklist: Do's and Dont's
Roof has been checked for:

The concrete slab and all other cementitous substrates to be well cured at least for 6 8
weeks

Ensure minimum slope of the roof slab is verified to be 1in100 or 1 in 80

Ensure loose portions have been removed and have been redone with Dr Fixit MPB
polymer modified mortar.

All Cracks up to 2mm has been treated with Dr Fixit Crack X compound & larger
cracks treated with Dr Fixit MPB / URR polymer-modified mortar.

All loose dust, dirt, grease, moss, fungus etc. has been removed mechanically from the
roof, cleaned and is ready for application of Dr Fixit Primeseal primer.

All the corners of the terrace to be made round, triangular fillet all has been made ready
for application of Dr Fixit New Coat.

All sharp edges, stones protrusions have been mechanically ground to level the surface
to prevent Dr Fixit New Coat from getting damaged.

Plan for proper manpower arrangement

Ensure for sufficient quantity of safety gear like safety belts, helmets etc.

Prepare a schedule of the work with bar chart, for the entire job

Assess the quantity of all materials required for the job and check its availability.
During application -Checklist:

Note batch nos and manufacturing dates of all materials received at site

Ensure that the Surface has been checked to be in a surface saturated dry condition.
(Surface is moist but not wet. To check feel the surface with your palm, surface should
be moist but with no free water).

Application temperature has been checked to be between 5 deg and 40 deg centigrade.

Apply one coat of Dr Fixit Primeseal primer (Primer to be diluted with clean potable
water in the ratio of 2 parts primer and 1 part water).

Apply Dr Fixit Primeseal @ 8 10 Sq. mtr / Ltr.

Allow the coat of primer to dry for 3-4 hours.

On the treated cracks apply one coat of Dr Fixit Newcoat & sandwich a 50-gsm Glass
fiber roll over it to reinforce the areas of cracks.

Apply 1st coat of Dr Fixit Newcoat in any one colour at the rate of 2 sq.m per litre
(Make grid lines of 1mtr by 1mtr on the surface with chalk for measuring application
coat of 2 sq.m)

While the first coat is still wet embed an open woven glass fibre mesh of 2 mm x 2mm
and allow it to soak completely with the material
Allow to dry for 6 8 hrs
Dr Fixit New coat second coat in any other colour (other than the first coat) to be
applied with brush or roller in direction perpendicular to the first coat as shown in Fig1.
Check to see no void surface is left untreated / uncoated.
Allow the second coat to dry for 6-8 hours.
Apply third coat of Dr Fixit Newcoat in another colour. Application direction
perpendicular to second coat. Check to see no void surface is left untreated / uncoated.
All coats should be applied in direction perpendicular to the subsequent coat
Wash all application tools and hands etc., immediately with water after use.
All corners, gaps, joints, protrusions & outlets to be coated with two extra coats.

Post Application Checklist :

Do not use Terrace / roof after application 3 coats of Dr Fixit Newcoat till it is air cured
for 7 days.

Protect the Dr Fixit Newcoat with a polythene / Tarpaulin sheet if it is expected to rain
before 72 hours.
Precautions and limitations:

Do not Dilute Dr. Fixit Newcoat

Stir contents well before use.

Do not apply on very smooth and putty applied surfaces.

Apply Dr. Fixit Newcoat within 48 hrs of Primeseal application.

The coverage may vary according to the nature and texture of substrate.

Ensure proper coverages of material by conducting a trial prior to execution of work to


derive coverage for guesstimating the material consumption.

Note all details (B.No. / date etc.) of the material received for further references.

Do not allow any heavy instruments to be dragged on Dr Fixit Newcoat applied surface,
no new erection, fabrication, extension , dismantling should be done after Dr Fixit
Newcoat is applied.

Try not to carry out any activities on the Newcoat applied surface which may cause
damage to it.

All the above mentioned parameters are checked and verified for the pre- application,
during application and post application work carried for the project.

Also followed and adhered to are the precautions mentioned in the list as mentioned by
the manufacturer.
